This is a pic of leak in oil pan on 6.2 l in 07 Yuk Denali XL. It appears leak is around the silver, 3-4 in cap/disc on the bottom of the upper indent in oil pan. Is this a seal of some sort?

Ok, sort of answering my own question. I guess this is part of the bell housing for the trans. And the disc/cover is the torque converter inspection plug or cover.

Anyone had a trans leak here, what is need to fix?

Do you know for sure if it is trans fluid? That could narrow it down a bit for us.

I had an oil leak that appeared in the similar location and it could be coming from a number of places on the back or even top of the engine.

I asked a mechanic and he said that it could be the

1. Rear main seal
2. Intake manifold gasket
3. Oil pressure sensor sending unit is bad
4. Valve cover is loose
5. Cover plate gasket is bad
6. Oil plug is a little loose
7. Oil filter has a bad gasket

I know that this post sounds bad, but almost all of those problems can be fixed in a matter of minutes in your driveway. Until you can narrow down the actual location of leak, keep an eye on your fluids.

Good ?, if I had to guess, I'd say oil. I changed oil 2 weeks ago, first time on this yuk (new to me). Glad I did, dealer had done a new oil change, when they put truck up for sale. The oil looked new as did filter. But, I like syn oil, so I changed after 3k miles.

When I got underneath, light coat of oil on pan and that port on bell housing. At first I was concerned about a leak, but then the oil filter practically fell off when I went to remove it. Figured I just had a bad seal there. I cleaned up everything with brake cleaner, but as you can see, oil film is back.

I'll clean again, do a visual and monitor.

My oil pan sweats a Lil oil out the seals. Not enough to cause a drip. I consider it normal. 08 Denali

On these GMT900's it is extremely hard to get the oil filter up there and tight enough because the oil filter is so snug against the oil pan up in that crevice where they placed. So most likely it's oil from a previous oil change where someone didn't get the filter tight enough. I've started getting K&N oil filters that have the nut on the bottom of them so that I can just use a socket to tighten it since an oil filter wrench is useless with where they placed the filter. Since I've started this I've had no issue with this problem so may be worth a shot for ya :waytogo:

You might be right, I put a Mobil 1 filter, thought I tighened it enough, but it is difficult. I'll check tightness this week, when I clean oil off again.

It's an inspection port. When I bought my 07 Yuk Denali with 65k mi we put it on the lift and our shop manager popped that off and felt in there for oil (there was none).
I'd pop it off, clean inside it around the port and clean the outside then check it again around the time of your next oil change. If it's still seeping you should have a shop check it out.
