Good news, went back to the dealership yesterday morning and explained the situation to the service manager and less than an hour later I got my truck back with the rear defroster cable sodered back on and at no expense to me. Initially they told me that if the extended warranty covered the repair the deductible would have been $50. (they never got to the point of investigating if it was covered).

Glad it's fixed and I can move on from this and hope it's smooth sailing from here.
