THIS THREAD WILL SERVE AS INFO ON MAINTAINING MY TRUCK AS WELL AS A REFERENCE FOR MYSELF.

I have a 2003 Yukon SLT 5.3 with almost 160K miles on it, what are some things that are recommended to be replaced to keep it running well?

So, some things that I have read that are good to upgrade are CAI, Black Bear tune, exhaust system, air filter.

Any more?

As mentioned above, clean the throttle body - i did this past weekend and it made a noticeable difference in my 03 Tahoe's performance. More pick up, throttle response, etc. I have about 189k on it.

Keep an eye on your transmission's shifting - my valve body is starting to wear, causing late/abrupt shifting 1-2 and sometimes 3-4.

That coolant leak could be a sign of a head gasket, I had that problem and I ran an $80 dollar bottle of sealer through the system and that stopped my leaking.

Fuel Pump for sure.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I'm gonna go slow on these due to $$$, but they're on the list. The cleaning ones shouldn't be too bad though.

I don't want to splash too much $$$ the truck (unless necessary), I just want it to to run another healthy 100K. :licklips:

I've read on here that a CAI is something to consider since air is very important to the engine. These are two that I read positive things on from here:

Airaid $350
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IARFB0...TF8&colid=36MVUTL6OKN4Q&coliid=I3SJR01EZCH1U4

Spectre $150
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DBVPY0...TF8&colid=36MVUTL6OKN4Q&coliid=I1TISQ6782OH5X

I've read the Airaid is AMAZING and the BEST. But $350 is a little steep for me. The Spectre seems a better fit for me and have read positively on. Any comments/suggestions?

If I do acquire this, is there something else I should upgrade as well? Like the air filter?

I have the K&N, but Airraid has tested really well for HP & TQ increase.

Personally, I want to get a dry filter after having to clean my MAF sensor a few times after oiling the K&N. It's really not a big deal, but when you start having sensor issues and codes coming up it's nice to know the air filter isn't a possible cause.

Someone else can comment on the Spectre.

I'm not sure about your question about upgrading the air filter after getting a CAI as they are part of the CAI.

If you're going to for performance first, air intake and then exhaust output will be the most efficient. I had to replace my Catalytic converters at 140K, but that's because I live in MN where the weather hates SUV's. So if your CAT's are good do headers and a cat back exhaust system or custom system installed at a shop.

if your vehicle has 160k miles you need to first work on the wear and tear before you start installing stuff like vette servos on a high mileage tranny
before you waste any money on one of these so called "cold air intakes"
go watch the cold air intake mythbusted video on youtube and read the comments its pretty funny how many people argue with a dyno

What do you mean by "De-oil intake manifold"?
I don't recall seeing that phrase, before.
