I have a 2008 GMC Yukon Denali with a 5.3. The shifter is
P R N D 3 2 1. How can I tell if I have a 4L60E or a 4L70E. Thanks

Inside your glovebox you should find a sticker with many 3 character codes on it.
Look for either M30 (4L60E) or MYC (6L80E).

MD8 = 700R4 / 4L60 (no 'E')
M30 = 4L60E
M32 = 4L65E (4L60E Heavy Duty)
MD6 = 4L65E (what is 'PTU'?)
M70 = 4L70E (Super Duty) (somebody with a TrailBlazer SS, please check their RPOs?)

MT1 = 4L80E
MN8 = 4L85E (Heavy Duty, think 6.6L DuraMax)

MYC = 6L80E
MYD = 6L90E (Heavy Duty, think 6.6L DuraMax)

M5U = 8L90E
MQE = 8L90E with 'improvements'

MF6 = 10L80E
MX0 = 10L90E

I think you typed the year wrong, a 2008 denali would not be a 4sp, it would be a 6l80 6-speed and it would say PRNDL
nbs 2000-2006 they had the 4l60, unless someone changed it.
