I am going to take a swing at this by replacing the VVT Solenoid / Acuator. While doing that, I am also debating the oil control valve (bolt behind the acuator).

Also, I just had the water pump off to replace the cam position sensor and new gaskets were used. Do I need new gaskets AGAIN?

Buddy also mentioned maybe the water pump. No issues but truck has 105k and while I'm in there...but I'm not a fan or replacing something that isn't broke.

So, VVT solenoid - yes. Oil control valve? Water pump gaskets? Anything else while I am in there?

Yes yes and yes. None of what you mentioned is very expensive. The water pump is a for sure given what happens if it fails. Gaskets are cheap insurance. I can’t speak to the oil control valve but if it’s not expensive and easy to get to why not
