whats happening to my rims

i got new tires today and i noticed some peeling on my rims and i think its the clear coat is there anything i can do about this i think there centerline rims

Centerline wheels should be billet I believe but I may be wrong :shrug:

If they are billet they can be polished to look like new. Depending on how bad they're it might take a decent amount of elbow grease.

so whats this shit thats peeling off and why is it copper looking underneath
sorry when it comes to rims im clueless i dont know the difference in billit or what powdercoat is or anyof that stuff

On my phone I can't see the peeling. The difference between chrome and billet should be fairly obvious.

it looks like someone at one point used Rim Acid (i used this stuff years ago when i was a detailer) the stuff will find and eat the finish off cheap "chrome" rims but nothing with make it shine and keep the corrosion away, it pretty common to see that kind of peeling on rims that cant be cleaned with it, becareful if your rims are painted chrome because some car soaps will eat it over time.

no rim acid used the only thing ive used is simple green on the rims as far as car wash soap i use that car wash soap they sell at costco
or i run in through the dolphin car wash up the street
i dont know if you can tell in the pic but the peeling is bad before i went through the carwash today that little copper spot was much smaller
