You are correct. I personally like having a little bit of protection from the lip.

Definitely not calling you a liar just wondering where you found anything saying a 305 was recommended on a 9.5 everywhere i see it the smallest it recommends 10 or larger

Discount Tire

I had also called and spoke with Nitto and they recommended the 295 or 305. The 285 was never mentioned. Personally I think the 285 is too narrow.

If you look at the 285s in the pictures of jetstars i think they look right on his 9.5s.. 305mm is like 12 and a quarter inches..

If you go on tirerack.com or anysite that his tire stats.. none of them recommend a 305 on anything smaller than a 10.. and like i said.. a 10 is already on the bottom of the scale..

And as far as offset.. +35 is great.. some people make a +40 .. and it will sit the wheels tucked in super nice.. but im not sure its that big of a deal or even worth it if youre not planning on slamming it.. since a +35 to +40 is only like 2/5 of an inch anyway

Google this...
"run a 305 on a 9.5 inch tire"
Or go to TireRack.com and Search 305/35/24 and click on stats..
Make your own decision.. im not arguing with conner.. maybe this is a common setup.. but the math is all wrong..

GNote is running 285/30r24 on 24x9.5 rims...

Personally I ran a 295 on a 10" rim, but I don't think the .5" difference in rim width with a 305 tire, compared to a 295 will make a difference.

a 305 to a 295 IS half an inch of difference.. so a 295 on a 10 inch wheel.. vs a half inch WIDER tire on a half inch narrower wheel.. equals an inch more issue than what you had.. i guess im gonna kinda duck out of this thread because im sure it sounds like im arguing at this point.. and im not.. im just tryin to look out

Like i said.. just google.. "run a 305 on a 9.5 inch rim" and see what people are saying.. just recognise there ARE different sizes available for a 24 than a 305.. and some might be a better idea.. IMO.. 285/30s (smaller sidewall) or 285/40s (same sidewall as the 305/35s) would be ideal

You could be right. But I do think it depends a little on the tire itself. Tire sizes vary a little with the tire manufactures. Anyways, I will let you guys know if I notice anything going on with uneven wear or anything like that.

if it is such a problem why does all the tire n wheel packages run 305s

Cause believe it or not they really dont care about what the "best" fit is. Shit most tire places get a better deal on certain sizes or bought a grip on sale and are just trying to get rid of their stock

I agree with you MOB or I would prob. be pushing a 305 on my 10" inch rim over the 295 I actually have.

I really dont think it is a problem. Like I said before, this is the second truck I have ran this set up on with out ever having any issues at all. Ideally it is probably not the best option, but it is not somthing that is going to make much of a difference.
