Hi.

I have 20" wheels and tires on my Tahoe at the moment. My tires are getting close to the point of replacing. The tire shop posed an interesting suggestion. He said I could get 17" wheels and tires for about the price of the new 20" tires.

So maybe I should sale my 20" rims/tires and purchase a set of 17" rims and tires. (this way I will able to get some bigger tires that will give me a little more rubber, and a little better experience 4x4 wise). I think part of me feels like changing my look a little, but don't want to spend too much.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I see you took an 11 hour trip. If you do that a lot, I would leave the 20's on and put some new rubber on them as you will love the ride. I had 16's with some beefier tires on my truck previously and I did not like the ride, too noisy. Furthermore, 20's look 10 times better. Take a look at my albums and see for yourself.

At the end of the day, do what makes YOU happy, as it is your truck.

Do you go off-roading, mud bogging, snow bogging, etc.?
about 6 months ago I moved from an area that snowed... to an area on the Central California Coast where you can drive on the beach and drive on sand dunes. There are many off road sand vehicles in this area; but i don't want to mash on dunes, i just want to be able to drive in the sand on occasion. I do go to visit my family in Oregon couple times per year (10-11 hour drive).

I agree with what your saying Jochen. I do like the look of the 20s and it seems to ride on the highway pretty good. I thought that a 17" wheel with a little more rubber might drive a little smoother, but maybe not. .... I will check out your albums to get a better idea. . Thanks!

Welcome Ryan.

I think you have a great looking Tahoe and I think with the right tires on there, it will look even better and you will be happy.

I like the look of the 20s. But you will get a softer ride with 17s. Also better for at/s tires for the snow and sand. I have yokohama geolandar at/s 16's and they're not noisy at all. In the end, it's all up to you and what you like and what suits you best for your area and driving conditions.
