I read somewhere that the fresh air intake for the HVAC has a foam gasket that dries out. This would be located underneath the leaf screen. I know this was an issue on LeSabres (a real PIA to fix, I never did fix that one), and it was an issue on the Grand Marquis to a lesser extent. I did read that the gasket is easy to get to on the Tahoes. This might be worth checking out, and could certainly cause your water leak.

Could be as simple as a vowel screw loose or leaking. On the obs I had a leak in the passenger side and that's what it was. I fixed a few trucks that had that leak. On these truck not 100% but worth a look. Cheep and easy

Are you talking about the foam strip under the painted cover on the passenger side, just under the cowl?

I've never opened it myself, just heard about it as a leak source in the Tahoes.

I'm sure once you remove the top leaf screen, you will see the actual fresh air intake underneath. there is usually a second screen or dam to prevent rain runoff from entering the air intake. It would be this gasket to check. Maybe some one on this forum has actually seen it.

Every car I've ever owned has had a leak here. Sometimes it takes 15 to 20 years to actually start leaking.

Here's a good You-Tube link
Great video!!

I believe I've found the source of the leak. It looks to be coming from the bottom of the windshield about 1/4(pf total width) the way in from the passenger side. I ended up going around it with q-tips since I couldn't get a good angle. Sure enough, the q-tips cape up wet.

Anything else I should do for preventative maintenance while I have it apart? I plan on doing the cover gasket shown in the video. Does the gasket go around 360 degrees or only about half way as shown?

Something else you may wish to look at is the sunroof, if you have one. I took my shop vac with the reducer and a small piece of vacuum hose, then sucked out any debris from the roof drain. When I knew that was clear, I noticed that the sunroof gasket was caked with mildew. I cleaned the gasket, cleaned and waxed the metal edge of the sunroof opening, and now everything seems dry. Even after last nights storm. (we got part of the same storm Chris got)

When my sunroof was leaking, it was dripping down the passenger side A pillar, which could I suppose, collect in the windshield area you describe.

My daughter just moved to Oregon from South Carolina. Think the storm might be chasing her ? Lol
If it was, it must have lost track of her. It turned out to be not that bad after all the hype!
