Real quick question, maybe a dumb one but I found one set of the pads on ebay. Ac delco with the same model number but on the box it’s stamped July 2013. Should those be fine or should I just buy one from rock auto since it would probably be a later production or should the production year not really matter? Their like 41.00 on rock auto and I found the one set on eBay for 23.50. Last set of them

I can't think of any reason why brake parts would "go bad" but for as long as rear brakes last, I'd spend the $18. That way if anything goes wrong, the parts are under warranty.

Thanks for the advice. Didn’t consider the warranty. Going to go ahead and order them now

It’s the entire kit: calipers, rotors and pads + severe duty.

ETA: Though it looks like that’s a kit for a RWD, and OP said 4x4.

I saw where it says "rear" but when you see the breakdown the pads are listed as RWD but calipers and rotors are not. I have no idea if they are different. Good catch.

Supposedly they’re different, but I haven’t really investigated.

Nope on caliper replacement, this is a brake service for new pads. A quick visual of both sides of the rotor will tell you if “the grind” is damage of the rotor surface.

Deff go ceramic formula. There’s less dust, longer life and no noise on any compound as long as the brake squeal clips are reinstalled and the lube is installed at the correct points.

As far as rotors go, zinc plated is the way to go. We run slotted, drilled, zinc plated on our 08 Yukon XL w/ Bosch ceramic pads. 150% better than OE non ceramic w/ OE rotors that are prone to getting hot spots that warp the rotor and/or collect material to warp it that way.

Make a note or take a pic of where the bent part/ear of the brake pad is installed on the caliper before removal. Only one pad on one side has the bent portion made to make noise on the rotor when the pad wears down. There’s no brake light on these things to advise of low brake pad time.

Merry XMAS!

I replaced my rear brakes on my ‘05 (Z71) this summer and used the following:

- NAPA Coated rotors (UP 880165CR)
- AC Delco parking brake shoe (17781B)
- AC Delco Professional ceramic pads (17D834CH)

From my research, the NAPA ultra premium rotors were recommended the most / as the best non-slotted or drilled aftermarket rotors.

I replaced the parking brake shoes while I was in there just because I didn’t want to have to remove everything later on again.

I almost went with Akebono pads but had seen good reviews for the AC Delco pads so I went with those.

Brakes are quiet and firm, some brake dust is there but tough to tell how much since my wheels are flat black and usually dirty anyways.

Side note: I went ahead and replaced my bleeder screws while I had everything apart so I wouldn’t run into issues later on. I read horror stories about them seizing or snapping off in calipers so I went the preventative route for $20 all around. Be aware that the thread pitches differ between front and rear bleeder screws. On my Tahoe the rears were PN 88967108, while the fronts were PN 25846360.
