Who has bought which 4l60e remanufactured?

Just weighing my options..

Rebuild myself $500 no warranty etc

Local shop $1500 12 months..I don't really trust transmission shops

Checking in to purchasing a reman unit and sending my core back. 3-5 year warranty. Prices from 1300+

I'll be using it to tow about 5000-6000 pounds occasionally. Mostly traveling to and from races with two dirt bikes. Plan on running 285 tires.

What experiences have you guys had and with who?

I found a great local shop (100 miles away) that was recommended by racers. Had him build both my 60Es and have had great luck. COst was $1050 across the bench, meaning I remove and replace.

You should check Craigslist. I found a LS year 4L60E built with performance clutchs a hardened reinforced sun shell , shift kit and corvette servos. From a shop in Tulsa Oklahoma. Granted that's over 100 miles away it would be worth the drive. If you pull your own tranny out and swap him the cost is about $550 for a regular 4L60E and that's with a torque converter. If you buy there Performance package which comes with all the stuff listed above it's $816 cash out the door. All their transmissions come with a 1 year no questions asked warranty.

I also forgot to say that the $816 is with a core charge ($125) because I'll have to go get it in the truck I'm going to swap Transmissions
