Anyone? I hear great things about the gear drives, no wear and so on. I have no idea what is in mine but the clutches are shot. I think I am going to get a Detroit Truetrac and put it in and wanted to hear some opinions on guys running them.

Do it! unfortunately i dont have mine in yet, however i know people that run them and they live by those things. No maintenance, no rebuilds, no wear on clutches etc. Great for the mainly on road driver w/ some offroad driving. their also decently priced, i will have one going in sometime in Dec.

yes yes yes, and for the record yes.
I put one in my 1/2 ton with a 14 bolt semi float and i swear by it. It took so much e
Endless abuse on and off road, never a problem and always locked solid. I was pulling out trucks with solid axles and 44 inch boggers with my truck and that diff held together no matter what i threw at it.
In fact, my 10 bolt in the blazer is done for and i'm thinking of a 14 bolt swap and another detroit.

locker - locks, works awesome, but not so nice on the road. you will get alot of wheel chirp with those. The truetrac's are a posi so they ride open on the road, but lock up when you need em.

In my Land Rover I had a truetrac up front and a detroit in the back. TT Worked alright but I ended up swappin them out for ARBs. Limited slip is better than open diff, but you can't beat a locker.

Locker for off road. limited slip is way more street friendly. A locker in a truck that spends 80% on road is not a great idea

I've had mine in since January & love it. It is virtually maintenance free as the worm gears do not require any special additive to the rear dif fluid. You basically set it & forget it. I do ocassional light trails with mud & it locks when I need to get out of that junk.
