i know its been done, someone show me a t/y, preferrably 4dr on the ground and explain how ya got it there.

saw one in greenville that removed the lower 2" from the frame, tubbed and notched into the rear cabin and used a 2dr fuel tank for clearance.

is that the easiest way?

There are so many ways. Everyone has their own style/way to lay a SUV out. It's not "easy" persay. You have alot of floor to cut out for a Body Drop.

Stock Floor is better IMO. Lots of rear floor cutting, tubs, etc. Better to use a Fuel Cell, you can have any size, and put it anywhere you can. I'll dig around for pictures/info.

At one time, my Yukon was planned for a Stock Floor at a local shop called Sick Side Customs. The owner is the builder/owner of Plane Jane.

And what do you mean by "Removed the lower 2" of Frame"
You dont remove any of the frame. Either you do a Stock Floor Body drop with building a new frame. Or you do a traditional body drop by cutting floor, lowering it, channels, etc...

Only a few ways to do it.

i mean, they took 2" off the from wheel hump to wheel hump \_______/

they stripped the wiring/lines from the inside of the frame rails, welded in 2" box tubing 1/4" wall from hump to hump two inches from the bottom, then plama cut the bottom off level with the rockers.
that allowed the body to lay flat, instead of sittin on frame and the rockers waaay up in the air.

im aware a fuel cell would be a better choice, they just said they used a tank from a 2dr, guess it was readily available.

also, i have no problem cuttin the floor from the cowl to the barn doors, just wanna see whos done it and what they ran into doin it.

dont mess with texas, those cats are from another country and seriously get down!!!

Im sorry, but Im not following what they did. Sounds like they just boxed in the factory frame, then cut the bottom of the frame itself?

How did they do the body? They had to do a traditional body drop, lowered the body mounts, or made new ones. But if they cut the bottom of frame, then the mount would have no where to go.

I am sure you mean they did a 2" Traditional Body Drop. Not changing the frame, but dropping the Body itself 2", raised floor 2" or more with channels etc...

the way it was explained to me, they removed two inches from the lowest part of the frame. crazy sounding i know but the body was not dropped, no cuttin into the floor. the bottom few inches was removed then they just laid frame and tubbed the rear, like you posted above but instead of just laying frame, it lays rockers too. no bd

hmm that is an interesting way to do it. So if i understand this correct they bagged it to lay frame, then they trimmed the frame 2" to make it look bd without bodying it.

actually, they trimmed it 2" to match the body, then laid frame. doin it the other way would sit 2" high after trimming.

I'm sorry. But that is a terrible, ghetto way to get it done. Even if it boxed. Just a stupid idea IMO. Hope they didn't do that to alot of trucks.

How tall is the actual frame is what I want to know. I cant even grasb someone really thinking of doing that.

the OEM frame is 7"+ across the bottom, it narrows to 5.5" in the humps and ends at 4.5" behind the axle

so if you trim off the lower 2" and box it, itll still be 5" across the bottom and imo stronger than the oem open frame rails.

i had a stock floored 4 door. we built a new frame from the firewall back out of 2x4 1/4 wall box tubing. used a 94 s10 blazer gas tank. raised rear floor and trans tunnel. and tubbed back and firewall.
