What HP gains are you guys seeing? I know MPG takes a dump but overall, is it worth it?

I'm looking to go that route and add one in the near future. :pepper:

I'm running a ProCharger P-1SC/2 Core Intercooler on my 2001 Denali that has the 6.0L engine. They say that with the setup I have I am getting 55-60% HP gains. So stock I have 345 HP and with just the ProCharger setup it would put me right around 535-552 HP. Significant HP gains that you can feel! I would get it!! It is worth every penny!

ProCharger is higher rpm power whereas MagnaCharger is lower rpm power. Off the line a Magna will win, but once the rpm's start going up a ProCharger will really take off. ProCharger is a much easier install as well.

When upgrading to a Supercharger, what other parts are needed to really make the system effective? I notice some of you have headers, etc.

Is this the only big difference between the two systems? I really want more hillclimbing power from my 5.3. Oh and of course, off the line power too!

Effectively, I think a good way to look at the differences is how they deliver power - the magnacharger makes the motor 'feel' bigger - i.e. like a big block, with LOTs of torque at low rpms.

The vortech/paxton and other centrifugal superchargers have linear power delivery, akin to a turbo. They will make peak boost at redline, and the power will continue to climb - it's still a v8, so you'll have lots of torque.

I personally never liked the magna/whipple etc. roots/positive displacement blowers. They just feel weird driving them, but that's me. Some people love the tire roasting torque they give, right off idle.

I don't think you'd go wrong either way!

You'll also benefit from any exhaust - headers, catback, etc. You'll definitely need an ecm tune with the blower. I'd think headers would probably make the largest gain for the least amount of money with the blower - anything you do the the motor in regular form to make more power will make even more with the blower - headers are probably just the best bang for the buck, and a prerequisite for any other power mods like heads, or cam.
