Why does it shout at me? (Thoughts on the stereo system)

Awesome! Thanks a lot, that pdf is great. I was told by Metra to use a 9v battery on the speaker wires (no polarity involved) to see if the speakers make a noise. Where can a replacement OE amp be sourced? Is there a cheap alternative that is plug and play or would i need more Metra harness adapters?
no easy alternatives, replacement amp would have to come form a wrecking yard, otherwise wire up your own aftermarket amp

To the original op.....you can put 1000.00 speakers in there...speakers dont make the sound they only play it...your head unit is an 80.00 unit, and its a jvc....just sayin

You know, sometimes when someone says something out loud it kinda hits you… I recall that this thing sounded shouty with the factory speakers too, but in my head I figured it was probably caused by the rotted surrounds… I’m not 100% happy with the way this head unit interacts with my phone when it’s plugged in anyway (it automatically connects to pandora and it’s almost impossible to listen to anything else, and it’s difficult to change “stations” in pandora). Perhaps I should consider a head unit upgrade next instead of chasing speakers…
