Put most of the kids down and wife calls me after a meeting. Car keeps saying "No Key Detected" and won't start. Can start it with the app, but can't take off. Trying the cupholder trick doesn't work.

So I come out there with the other key fob and tools and sent her back home. No dice with the other key fob.

Long story short I ended up having to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and put it back on. Started up like a champ.

Is this a known issue? Any idea what causes it? Other than GM Software Engineering apparently...
I guess I'm going to equip her with a 10mm nut driver and some gloves in case she gets stranded and I'm not a few minutes away. Anyone got a better way?

First time I've heard of this issue. I would say check the key fob batteries, but it worked after a battery reset so that's likely not it. There was an issue back in '22 where when remote started, when the vehicle was put into drive it would kill the engine. Only way to get it going again was to disconnect the battery and reset the system. That was fixed with a software update and I haven't heard of anyone having that issue since then... For now I'd chalk this one up to a software anomaly...

A friend had the same situation. It is necessary to remove all electronic devices away from the key. For example, my mobile phone with active NFS blocks the key from working if they are nearby.

Did you call the dealer and ask?
I had the same thing happen when I disconnected the batter(ies) to do some work. I spent like 15 minutes just doing the same stuff you did trying in the cup holds. Had to go inside and do some other stuff nd came out later and I’d started right up.

I don’t think it’s anything to do with the fob. It may be a dying battery or something in the passive anti theft not working. If you have one of those small jump start batteries, I’d be curious if you left it in her car and hooked it up next time if it helps.
