They can work with a sellonoid that you control so that you can control the charge. Other than that I would not do it. My advise would be to sell them and get two diehard from the same run. You will be way better off.

One will eventually die prematurely. Put them in craigslist they will sell if you keep the price fair.

You guys do realize that they don't have to be identically spot on if his usage doesn't dictate it, right? For large loads you definitely want them the same so you don't drain one prematurely. As long as they rest about the same voltage, one one draw the other down.

Ideally your 2nd battery would be in the back. The smaller battery wouldn't be the ideal battery to have back there though.

with a proper isolater yes your right but if he is just going to wire them in parallel one will eventually fail premature in theory because it will not be recieving a stable charge rate.

In theory, I haven't used any type of battery isolation for the last 13 years without a single failure. I've had anywhere from 2 to 9 batteries. If you wire them properly, they all receive the same charge rate. As long as they hold approximately the same charge, you're in pretty good shape for not killing each other. The DISCHARGE rate is what you have to worry about.

I have 8 batteries in my system. Stock up front and 7 agm batteries in the rear. No issues so far. Voltage stays above 13 at full tilt
