Windshield washer aim?

this has always bothered me... I have had 4 gmt400 vehicles over the years and they ALL sprayed the windshield no higher than 4-5” from the bottom..... making it essentially useless.
Especially since the wipers come on at the same time and just wipe the fluid off.


Anyone else?


I can’t believe that I’ve just happened to have 4 that experienced the exact same issue... I’m thinking it’s a design flaw...

I’ve tried to aim them but they appear to be fixed in place and no clear way to adjust.


Is there something I’m missing?
Are there aftermarket nozzles that fix this problem?

Without seeing the design of the nozzle. I know of at least three designs.

1) metal tube bolted to the hood or cowl, yes you can bend it.

2) a plastic sprayer with what looks like a small ball with a hole in it where the water comes out, since it is a ball you can adjust it with a pin or paper clip.

3) wet arms, the sprayer is mounted right on the wiper arm about midway.

Maybe post a picture of what you have on yours, maybe this will help

Here is the nozzle...

Same as I had on the others
(current, 94 K2500 pickup)
(others, 93 K1500 Sub, 94 K1500 pickup & tahoe)





Here is my field of view...

When the spray begins, the wiper comes on... basically its wiped off on the 1st downward stroke of the wiper and it never sprays high enough to get above the wipers... therefore, windshield never really gets cleaned.



you can see that the spray never shoots higher than the line of the hood, the wiper in this picture is lifted away from the glass.

Those don't look adjustable/aimable. Can they be popped out, flipped and reinserted? That may actually aim them lower. You'd have to look at them from the side while someone pulls the lever.

I always hold the washer selector until the wipers make two or three passes before releasing it. That was the wipers are down while the spray continues, then the wipers push the fluid up and over. The whole area of wiper path gets fluid.
