Hello
I recently bought a Tahoe 99 (old style) and have a problem. I live in sweden and to my knowledge there are nowhere to buy complete wiring diagrams. Specially for the stereo. The stereo is not the original but everything is fine except that the rear speakers in the back side doors does not work. But the ones on the roof in the cargohold work.

So my question is if there is a seperate amplifier for the back sidedoor speakers which might not be plugged in.

If anyone knows of a good repair manual I would be thankfull, I've got the chilton manual nr.28624 and im not very pleased with it due to the lack of wiring diagrams for the car (they only cover the engine).

Thanks on beforehand
Rainer

there is an amp for the rear doors under the driver side seat. you will need to take the deck out and connect the amp turn on lead to the harness. the amp trigger wire in the car is pink.

Thanks for the quick answer. I will have time to check this in a few days :)

Did I understand it correctly when I take it that that the pink wire is the powercable to the amp? And if this is the case where do I connect the pink cable?

unknown at this time.
the pink wire attached to the OEM radio originally. it powered a relay which powered the amp which is powered by the CIG LTR fuse. you would connect he pink wire to an amp activation wire on your new radio. If not available find a wire that is active when key is in accessory mode. like the switched wire that tells the radio to turn on. But no constant battery connection.

Thanks for the help, now I will feel more confident when I get to work with it and will probably save me tons of time to do some other fixes on the car. :) I bought it from an older man who have had the car for a long time and there are only a few minor things that I am eager to fix :)

But does anyone know a good book (or cd) with complete wireing diagrams and schematics for the whole car? :)

I have now checked the pink wire to the amp behind the radio. There were four other wires which were cut and was not connected to anything. :hmm:

I tried to find the amplifier underneath the driver seat but were unable to find it.I saw a little lump under the carpet but found a similar lump in the front passenger seat. I couldn't see if there were any wires there because they are under the carpet.

Are there anyone knowing where the amp is? My car model is Tahoe LT, and it is most likely a European model.

And how could I connect the cut wires to my radio? :)

are you able to trace the wires from the speakers to the front of the truck? i assume they probably feed through the wire grommets in the door jams.

Yes, I can trace them from the side back doors to the front behind the radio.

If the amplifier is missing, I guess that there is no connection between these two ends, right?

I now measured the connection between the loudspeakers from the back side doors to the wires behind the radio. There was no connection between them.

Where could the amplifier be? :help: So that I can find the wires and connect these lose ends together. I think that the amplifier have been removed because I can't see it under the driver seat. I only found a small lump under the carpet but I do not wan't to cut it if not I am 100% sure that the amp is there.

If it is not an amp there, what is it then? Is it two amplifiers then since I have another lump under the front passenger seat.
