Finally!! Apple got it's act together.
Recall when I'd updated the ios for my iPhone 5S to ios 8.0 that all the steering wheel voice calling commands stopped working. My daughter's iP4 on older software and my old iP5 on ios 7.x all still worked just fine. Apple swore it wasn't their fault it must be GM. Well lots of friends had the same problem in their Denalis, Tahoes, Escalades, Hondas, BMWs etc.
So when I read yesterday that the newest ios 8.2 supposedly addressed the problem, I quickly did the update. AND IT WORKS! I can once again press the call button on the steering wheel, say "dial home" and it calls home. Only took Apple 3 months to fix their problem.
