takes like 5 min to replace the shifter..just remove the rubber boot on the side of the column and swap it out..did it on my 95 and my buddies 98..its a 14 year old vehicle, what do you expect lol

well the entire mechanism is destroyed. found a replacement new online about $80. but really 14 years is a fart in the wind compared to how older cars used to last. and yeah the.older 350`s wore out a lot faster.than modern engines but then sensors are crazy expensive sometimes.
