I've read that it will not be a direct swap. IIRC you have to move the spring perches on the rear end to match your 'hoe.

You should be able to google dimensions on the axle, moving the perches aren't to hard, but I recomend buying new ones as you may destroy them cutting them off.

Further more you have an 8.5 rear, the newer have 8.2 or something ...

trucks are still leafs. the newer hoes are springs.

ya already found new perches but, not sure if everything else will work.

id say it would be an easy swap and would be worth it... if your truck is gonna be a drag truck or a rock crawler the ring gear size dont matter and the 02 is disc isnt it? and im pretty sure the u joint size is the same if not you could change the yoke on the back of the trans and im sure it would be ok...

not going to be a drag truck or rock crawler. just a daily driver that tows a 20' bass boat on the weekends. yep its disk which is one of the reason I was looking at it. I found one in a 02 silverado 1500 for 300.00 complete and it has the right gear ratio for my tahoe

You're going to need to change your master cylinder to swap to discs from drums.
