Would you go 20” or 22” wheels and why

What is the appeal of the 22” wheels other than aesthetics?
Tighter steering?

you said it. Aesthetics and nothing else. Performance wise a smaller/lighter wheel is the way to go, less rotating mass & unsprung weight. The 22” wheel/tires on these suvs are tipping the scales at close to 100 pounds per wheel /tire.

Except you get much more sidewall roll with a smaller wheel so performance is actually less.

I’ve always had 20” wheels on my Tahoe’s. I don’t know any better. Would you go 20” or 22” wheels and why.

the current tire size in the 22” wheels has very few choices 7 I believe while the current 20” size has 20 plus choices for tires


I run 22" in the summer and 20" in the winter with snow tires so I could put on chains. Not enough clearance with the 22"s...and 18" have been a better choice. 22" stock rims are HEAVY and I notice a difference when tracking on the highway.

2016 Tahoe LTZ with 22's - moved up from 20's. I do not regret it. Riding on 285/45/22

mine is a 2017, but every other has had an 18 or 20 wheel...this one has the 22, it does ride fine compared to the others...BUT THE TIRES GRAB EVERY RUT THERE IS. could be tire size, brand or width (285)...but i bet the stiff sidewall is more noticeable. when i run a larger aspect i will let you know if there is any noticeable change

While I do like the look of the 22 RST’s that the previous owner put on my Yukon Denali, I would have never had purchased them as the ride quality is adversely affected. Ditto mileage.
