I would take it to a body shop and see if they can laser your frame to see how screwed it is or is not

Been there but untill the kids insurance company (state farm) gets the police report that says he is liable, the body shop wont do much... they did mention that since the drives side door needs to be slammed shut that its possible the frame is bent.

Id be livid if that happened to my 4 door, and even more pissed if it was a classic such as yours . Keep us posted when you find out more. Best of luck

That sucks if your frame is bent, but it looks like you still came out on top. My truck didn't come with a hitch on it, I think the previous owner wanted to keep it but I def need to get one just for the protection aspect.

You stopped in a traffic lane to save a bird? WTF were you thinking? so you had your hazards on. sure it's still the kids fault, but was it worth it? hind sight says no. more than likely with a bent frame you will have a total on your hands. if it was a dog, or some other bigger animal, sure go ahead and stop....a bird? really?
don't mean to flame on, sure you were trying to help, but........

If it totals it totals third party and you are allowed to buy it back.

Do not go first party you are 100 percent in the right no matter what you were doing. ( don't tell anyone else about the bird, lol.

If your lines between body fender and door still match up your frame is fine. You will be surprises how a strong vibration can move something that wasn't exactly tight.

Remember go third party (his insurance). If your insurance totals it they keep it. If his totals is you have every right to buy back or deny the claim and then go first party.
