well i was driving down the road today and out of nowhere my abs and brake lights pop on on the dash and the dic says service brake system or something like that. then about a half mile later, the engine goes into reduced power mode. so i stop and shut it off and sit for a minute and turn it back on and the brake lights are off and the cel is on but no reduced power. so i start driving again and about a mile or two later it goes back into reduced power mode. so i shut if off and sit and then turn it back on to just a cel. it does this one more time on my way back home. the brake stuff hasen't come back on yet. any clues what might be going on? its an 03 btw if that makes any kind of difference. all stock drivetrain with about 72k miles

Dude you may have ECU/electrical problems causing the car to throw incorrect codes, that is unless the car behaved different when the codes came up!
I suggest you get it checked out by the dealer ASAP.....

yeah, thats what i'm thinking too now. when i got in it last night to go to work, it wouldn't start. turn the key and nothing happened. the auto headlights turned on like it does but absolutly nothing happened when i turned the key. so i got out. stared for a second, got back in and tried again and it started. drove to the end of the driveway and it went into reduced power again. so i parked it and got a ride to work. when i got back home this morning, i tried it again and it did the whole nothing happens when you turn the key thing. and then when i just gave up and went to go inside, i hit the power lock button and that didn't work either. the battery isn't low or dead or anything so i'm completely lost.

Usually when an ABS light and brake light comes on at the same time it means low fluid....usually. as for not starting then starting right after your fuel pump could be on the way out happened to mine theres a vent solenoid on the top that craps out after a while so it wont start for a few until uve had the key turned and it builds up fuel pressure then itll start right up after, definitely get it checked out soon

so far i took it to a local repair shop and they couldn't get it to do anything so they sent it over the local dealer. they told me yesterday i'd need a new bcm for $450 because they couldn't even get it to communicate with their equipment. they said the main computer is probably out too but that would be covered under warrenty. so i say go for it. today they called me back and said that they ran the vin and asked if i knew i had a salvage title cause they couldn't swap out the computer with a salvage title(for free under warrenty that is). this made me pretty pissed off cause i had no clue and the place that sold it to me didn't say anything. i'm assuming i got a washed title because its normal title color and not orange and it don't say anything about salvage on it anywhere. i plan on contacting a lawyer soon to see about getting every cent i paid for this thing back and maybe more. i'm pretty mad about this whole ordeal and i hope i can put that worthless ******* place that sold me this under. i love my yukon but unfortunatly i might have to give it up. i don't want to keep encountering these random problems with it and it makes me worry what else might be bad on it. as it is, i'll be forking out $900 in parts at least plus all the towing bills and labor too just so i can get it back on the road and have something to drive till then

nope. just found out about this a couple hours ago. once i get my yukon back i'm going to get all the sales papers out of it and check through them to make sure they didn't slip something in about the title without me noticing and if not, i'll probably go straight for a lawyer

Wow. Get a lawyer and get their asses for selling y ou a salvage titled vehicle w/o informing you.
As for your problem, a lot of times grounding junctions can start to corrode and affect problems with more than one system at the same time. Check all the ground junction terminals. It's not uncommon.
