2022 Yukon XL - Total engine failure (while driving) at approx 16,000 miles.

Has anyone made any progress with GMC for this issue? Every rep I’ve spoken with won’t ancknowledge the NHTSA investigation, and I’ve been stonewalled by customer service advisors who keep contradicting each other. They just keep assigning new advisors so I can’t make any progress. No timeline for an engine replacement, no indication of any potential resolution.

This is not the first issue I’ve had with this vehicle, nor is it my first hellish experience with the “Customer Care” team.

Does anyone have any advice or experience to share with the buyback process?

The BBB Auto line process?

Any hacks for dealing with Customer Care generally?

Your best bet is get your dealer advocating for you. Are you a long term GM customer, a long term customer of this dealership, etc. Engage the Service Manager and the General Manger at the dealership...they can do a lot for you w/ GM that you can't do for yourself.
Now, if you are a single buyer, flyby on this dealership..you may not get as much help.

GM knows full well they have an issue, and have a backlog of fails to deal with.

You can check your state's lemon law, and see if you fit those parameters.

YOu really don't' give enough info above to know exactly what the issue is, Yes, you had an engine fail, you are entitled to warranty replacement. But you dont' say if your vehicle has been laid up a day or a year...those things would matter. You also don't say what other issues you have had...

Net, leading w/ "buy it back" may be a losing proposition...because GM clearly has enough of these fails lying around that you are one of many asking...

So i also had issues with 800 customer service who don’t even work for GM,it’s a call center they get paid to give out baloney. Tell them at the start of the call that you are recording the call for future reference.
Get the district manager for your area involved in your issue.

I’ve been assigned a few Regional reps who have been helpful, and host of others who have given me plainly false and contradictory information. Were they intentionally lying or completely uninformed, I’ll never know?

Really I’m just hoping to get any color on resolutions others may have been offered (buyback or otherwise) to help me cut through the noise. How does the buyback process work procedurally? What was the timeline? If not buyback, were they eventually willing to work with you? Etc

Is everyone getting stonewalled on the engine failure issue?

FWIW - I’m outside of my state’s lemon law time limitation despite the vehicles low mileage.

I feel your pain, I waited 2 months for engines. The first one they changed didn’t even make it past the start up Second engine was ok, but I dumped it after a couple weeks. I just had o confidence in the vehicle. I know a lot of folks are waiting for engines. Not sure when they build there service engines but the regular runs go to the assembly plants first.

Like holy crap, the new engine failed in less than 100 miles type early?
...
Dealership is about 15 miles from my house. I picked it up Saturday and drove it home. I just turned it on this morning and only made it 3 blocks before the new engine died. At least this time it put itself in Neutral?

Years ago we used to talk about these trucks going 200, 300k+

Now apparently 15.025 miles is a stretch. We are going in the wrong direction.

Truly sorry for your ordeal. If it was me i probably would have pushed it into the ocean already, assuming i was not still paying on it.

Status update: I picked up the Yukon after a complete engine replacement this weekend. I drove it home from the dealership. Just turned it on for the first time since Saturday, and the new engine failed 3 blocks from my house.
Incredible but not surprising. Maybe just a problem during setup
