@jfoj here's the legal blurb, it's a settlement, they refused buyback. I paid $100K for it.... now probably is worth 70s?
I (“Releasor(s)”), on behalf of myself and my assigns, heirs, and executors, in
consideration of $6,500.00 to be paid by General Motors LLC (“GM”), hereby fully release(s) and
discharge(s) GM and its member(s), parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, authorized dealerships, suppliers,
agents, officers, directors, employees, and representatives (collectively, the “Releasees”) of and from any
and all claims, causes of action, demands, damages, fees, costs, and/or expenses of any kind – known or
unknown – directly or indirectly arising from, related to, or in any way associated with the purchase of,
lease of, use of, operation of, service of, maintenance of, repair of, performance of, any warranty for, or
alleged defects in the 2023 GMC (“Subject Vehicle”). If Releasor(s)
initiated any court, arbitration, or other proceeding against Releasees, Releasor(s) will dismiss any such
proceeding, with prejudice, within one week of the execution of this Release of Claims

How many miles now?

Over 30K.

@blanchard7684 Is that on start up or constant?

Constant, always. Loudest at 1700RPM and 2200RPM. Also, the motor runs hot. I'm checking my oil a lot these days, it turns AMSoil Signature Gold black in 2500 miles.

I cannot believe that GM tried to buy you out of any real remedy even when the vehicle is still likely under the Powertrain Warranty. While I just glanced over the fine print, it looks like if you or anyone actually would accept and cash the check you would likely be SOL even if GM offered a 10 year - 100,000 mile engine Warranty that MAY?? come out of the NHTSA invesitagation. Pretty much similiar language on Insurance Company checks that if you cash the check, the Insurance company is off the hook.

Either GM needs to fix the vehicle or buy it back, they just cannot buy their way out of Warranty Coverage. Even dealer repairs should have some basic 12 month/12,000 Warranty on the work they perform. Hell BMW has a 24 Month Unlimited mileage Warranty on any dealer repairs, or they did at one time if it has changed. Suggest at a minimum to look into Arbitration, really cost you next to nothing, if you do not like the outcome, then you could take further action, but often it might force GM's hand because they would rather repair than Buy Back.

As for the oil getting black in 2500 miles, this sounds like something is cooking the oil. You indicated the engine is running hot, how high?? Do you know the oil pressure or oil temp?

Do you have any Android devices? You could also monitor the oil pressure and oil temp as well with only spending about $45 if you have an Android device.

Or put 6.6l gas motors in these. Not sure they have the exact same performance, but no DFM and they should be able to easily tune for these chassis easily.

Thanks. How fast were you going when it stopped the second time? (I've only heard of the failure happening at highway speeds.)
Both were at low speeds, traveling sub 25 mph at the time of failure. Very lucky for me. I had been on the interstate earlier that morning.

Not sure they have the exact same performance
They are both rated for about the same HP/Torque and the 6.6L does it with the common man's fuel. I'd also guess a HD truck engine like 6.6L really makes more torque on the lower end (and thus horsepower numbers are skewed lower)

And "LS" is just my term for the Chevy engine that was so reliable once. I guess the 6.6L would perhaps be the only "LS" left sadly.

Interesting thread

Our 2023 Suburban Z71(27000 miles) gave up the ghost on the wife while driving at highway speeds, confirmed needs new engine. It has been at dealership for 45 days so far with no end in sight, no allocation of engines at this time. I tried the GM Customer Care and have been escalated numerous times, inquired about a buyback and that was denied. The area GM Rep is meeting with the dealership GM today, see if we can get any answers or assistance from them. We were not offered a loaner but rather a rental from enterprise and they would only approve a Chevy Malibu. While that may work for some, it does not work when we are carrying more than 5 people (happens most days) pulling trailers, driving off pavement to job sites/ranch. Very frustrating, we have a small fleet of GM trucks for our business and it is making me wnat to go trade them all in for a different brand due to the lack of concern or even answers to timeframes. They all have issues, just ranting!!!!

You should research the vehicle lemon law for your state. Do not rely on GM to help you with a repurchase / replacement vehicle.

If you qualify (based upon your research), contact an attorney that specialities in consumer law. Do not tell the dealer or a GM representative that you are pursuing a repurchase.

My state provides reasonable attorney fees from the manufacturer for consumers that have a lemon-vehicle that qualifies under state law.

I have undergone two new vehicle repurchases from GM - I filed the action myself on one, and won in BBB arbitration and later used an attorney for the second one.

Don’t give up - don’t let GM string you along.
