One of the deciding factors in our Yukon XL purchase was wheel cut. We test drove Sierra AT4X trucks, and were very close, but found they had a much larger turn radius than their SUV counterparts. I've searched for an answer but don't know why the Yukons turn so much tighter than the Sierras. Same can be said for Tahoe/Burb vs Silverado. Don't these use suspensions/frames that are VERY similar on the front?

Wheelbase and tire size. Pickups have a longer wheeelbase and the AT4X has larger tires.

It's not an issue with us, we have them all.

I"ll compare my Yukon XL to an AT4X I recently drove.
AT4X has a 13.5" longer wheelbase than my Yukon XL.
The stock AT4X tire is not quite 33" diameter x 275 width. My Yukon XL has 35 x 11.5 tires on it.
It noticeably takes a lot more room to turn this vehicle around and much more difficult to pull into a parking space than my XL.

Tire width is nearly irrelevant.
Max turning angle (50°?) and wheelbase are the two most important criteria.
Even if you put dinky lil tires on the AT4X, it's wheelbase is still longer than a bubba.

Not knowing the turn angle I used 50 degree as a set value. Changing wheelbase only will increase the turn radius just under 1.5 ft. Driving the 2 vehicles feels much greater than this.
