I test drove a tahoe and suburban back to back and the only time I could tell the difference was parking it at the dealer after the drive. I thought the suburban would feel much bigger but if I didn't know I probably wouldn't have been able to tell which one I was driving

a yukon xl will be like driving a sedan compared to the pickup, turn radius is better, you probably won't be parking it in the garage though unless it's a big one.
best advice I can give you in either case pickup or xl is to back into parking spaces whenever possible it's easier than trying to back out of a parking spot trying to watch for pedestrians or kids or other cars and making other people wait for you to to a 3 point turn in reverse.

One thing you may like in the XL is having room behind the 3rd row without having to take the seats out. I rarely use my 3rd row but when I need it there’s not much room for stuff. If your new rig has 2nd row captain’s chairs you need the back seat anytime you have more than 4 people. Good luck.
Pretty much came to say the same thing. Standard size works for us because we only have 1 kid. Planning on a 2nd but that’s it….. once you have to start using the 3rd row then the trunk space is a wash…

but as far as the size of the xl. If you can drive the pick up comfortably then you’ll be ok in the XL

I drove a '17 Sierra double cab for 5 years and a crew cab F150 before that. I have not driven the 'Burban or XL but would compare those to the full size trucks. My 21 Yukon seems wider but has a better turning radius and also rides q good 5-6 inches higher than the Sierra did. Overall it is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. The Duramax is amazing!

Lol we have a 1500 sq ft house with a 3000 sq ft "attached garage". I clearly lost the argument there lol. We have a shouse so we have room if I can make my self comfortable getting thru the door.

We only have 2 kids, but as they are getting older I find we are giving friends rides to and from sports practices and gear takes up a lot of space. And since Ive been driving a truck with NO space, I really have come to realize how much crap my kids need. And how much easier it is to leave it in the car rather than having to turn around halfway to practice because someone forgt somethine.

Our rule was NEVER leave football or lacrosse bags in the car, if they contain pads, gloves, and other protective gear that absorbs sweat day after day and goes rancid. Once that smell has permeated the car/truck, it is very difficult to remove.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read that. After a while it smells like a dirty diaper.

Or worse.

I remember driving through the High School parking lot during school hours (town voting is conducted in the High School gym during school hours), and you knew who the athletes were, as their gear bags were outside of their cars, sitting on the parking lot's tarmac under the back of their cars.

lol, I could totally see that. And that will def be a consideration as they get older. But at 10 surprisingly my kid isn't stinky yet. Except for shoes. Those cannot stay in the car or even come off in my car lol. At this point I'm more worried about the constant farts permanently stinking it up. Why do boys fart so much!!!
