My first post, but I have been lurking for awhile. I will be in the market for a Yukon Denali XL, but would like to get it with the Z71 package. I could not get anything from the local dealer. Does anyone here know if they are going to offer the Z71 for the Denali XL?

What I really want is the 6.2 v8 in a suburban/Yukon XL with the z71. The Dealer said the 6.2 is only available in the Denali or Escalade, so I an "stuck" looking at the Denali XL.

Thanks

May be wrong but I don't think GMC does the Yukon with the Z71 package. I believe that is exclusive to the Chevrolet brand.

Seeing how they have never offered a Z71 package with the Denali in the last 16 years I cant see them offering it now.

Z71 is a marketing thing these days. You have a locking rear diff, and two speed transfer case. Just need some A/T tires and some skid plates underneath and you'll be set.

Go ahead and buy a Z71 emblem too cause the Denali doesn't have an emblem in that spot!

I agree with PokerMunkee too....

Thank you. I did not know that the Z71 was not an option for the GMC Yukon. I have never owned a GM Vehicle. We currently have a Toyota Sequoia, Toyota 4Runner, and Ford F150.

I did test drive a new Yukon XL with the 5.3 and a Yukon Denali XL with the 6.2. I felt the the 6.2 was much better merging on the hwy and in overall acceleration. So the 6.2 is option #1. If/when I buy the Denali, I will look out for aftermarket parts to make it more rugged.

Unless you're planning some serious off roading the Z71 package doesn't make as much sense as the magnetic ride control that comes on the Denali. I agree it doesn't look very tough though.

They may have changed things up a little for Z71's with these new models. I've noticed that some new GMC Sierras have Z71 badges near the hoods. Maybe they will have it on the SUVs now, who knows. I haven't seen any though. My 2004 Yukon has a "sport" package which apparently is the same suspension a Z71 had in those models. So just because it doesn't have the same name between the two models doesn't mean they don't have similar options. Alright that's all I know about that haha
