Copper Clad Aluminum wire on an auxiliary battery installation

I would only use copper. Size the wire for the length & amperage, then consider the wire and the connectors as a system. I prefer using solder terminals that utilize solder pellets, then sealing the joint with heavy-duty adhesive-lined shrink tubing. Some sources besides those mentioned...

Water stuck in door panel? 2014 Tahoe

No, of course they're not "designed to" fill up with water. No, the speakers are not marine-grade. This isn't a situation of GM "allowing" this to happen -- window seals aren't perfect, so water gets in. Thus, the doors are designed to drain any water that get past the window seals. Every...

Anyone “upgraded” from the tensioner style AC compressor to the stretchy belt?

In a similar vein, I used old-school suspension shims to align the brackets/pulleys on an aftermarket serpentine system the previous owner had installed on the 401 in my '79 AMC Spirit. You can get sets on Amazon for under $15 and there will likely be more than enough 1/64", 1/32", etc. to take...

My new daily driver, 2013 Tahoe PPV

IMO, this is a case where proper OE bolts and any associated hardware (washers, spacers) are a must. Generic fasteners likely won't have the correct flange, shank/shoulder configuration, and bending resistance.

What is the best way to seal headlights?

Yes, where the clear lens meets the black housing.

What is the best way to seal headlights?

OE and all aftermarket lights that I know of are already sealed, but if you mean additional sealing, I'd use Windo-Weld (yes, "windo" is correct).

Empty Spot in Overhead Console Bezel -- What's It For?

Yep, just found a similar eBay listing and posted it above.

Empty Spot in Overhead Console Bezel -- What's It For?

Ah, looks as if the switches for the power-fold 2nd-row captain's chairs were in this location for years other than my '13, which has them on the C-pillars. From an eBay auction:

Empty Spot in Overhead Console Bezel -- What's It For?

Yes. It's controlled by switches on the black box at the bottom left labeled "JAPAN." The truck also has a power liftgate, which is the switch in the middle.

Empty Spot in Overhead Console Bezel -- What's It For?

Y'all, While wiring in a dashcam, I noticed this empty spot (bottom right in the pic) in the overhead console of my '13 Tahoe LTZ. As per the title, what's this spot for? It'd be good to know what switch(es) fit there in case I ever want to add some device and use this spot. Thanks, Scrappy

Running A CVC BU60FHD Converter with Zeroed-Out Clutch Slip Target -- Any Advice/Experience?

That'd be nice, but won't be happening unless I run across a good one in a yard. Thank you for relating your personal experience. It looks that no lockup in 1-2-3 and lockup in 5-6 are the way to go, with lockup in 4 to be determined.

Running A CVC BU60FHD Converter with Zeroed-Out Clutch Slip Target -- Any Advice/Experience?

I intend to only be doing reliability, longevity, and driveability upgrades. It's a daily driver that I will use for regularly pulling a small utility trailer (that I used to pull with my 4-cylinder/auto '94 Camry without issue) and infrequently pulling a moderately-sized travel trailer no...

Universal Remote System: Can It Be Re-Wired to Ignition or RAP for Its Power Source?

Those are valid points, but I'm just looking to minimize ease of opportunities for ne'er-do-wells. I don't think any individual piece of security is a 100% solution.

Running A CVC BU60FHD Converter with Zeroed-Out Clutch Slip Target -- Any Advice/Experience?

Thanks for the input, Y'all! I'd already read both of your commentaries on the subject in other threads, but appreciate Y'all repeating it here. Now I just need folks' experiences with the converter in question. Yep, cooling by cutting off half of the surface area relative to the power being...

Running A CVC BU60FHD Converter with Zeroed-Out Clutch Slip Target -- Any Advice/Experience?

Y'all, I will be doing a number of reliability changes/upgrades soon, including disabling AFM and prophylactically replacing the torque converter & installing a Sonnax Zip Kit. I'm leaning towards a CVC BU60FHD converter, as recommended by many here. For those who are running this...

Universal Remote System: Can It Be Re-Wired to Ignition or RAP for Its Power Source?

That's great, but we've got 5 vehicles and only two indoor spots, so 3 have to be outside. I always lock all of them, including the two that are inside. Thanks for the stars! Yes, you can open/close garage doors via an app, via: 1) home automation systems, or 2) newer openers that have wifi...

Universal Remote System: Can It Be Re-Wired to Ignition or RAP for Its Power Source?

Y'all, For security purposes, I don't keep garage door remotes in my vehicles outside and I'd like to have the Universal Remote System work in my Tahoe, but not at all times, just when the ignition is on or RAP is active. I haven't found a wiring diagram or pulled the overhead apart to look at...

Windshield Washer Squirters -- Anyone Modified The Terrible Design?

That would absolutely not work for me, unfortunately. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, I would be lucky to get 3 days without having to clean the windshield. Most of the time, once a day is the minimum.

Windshield Washer Squirters -- Anyone Modified The Terrible Design?

It might be easier to add an unobtrusive momentary switch do the same thing. That thought crossed my mind momentarily, but I'm not quite ready to go that route!

Windshield Washer Squirters -- Anyone Modified The Terrible Design?

I know it cleans on the downstroke. My concern isn't a lack of cleaning, it's doing the upstroke on dry grit/grime.

Windshield Washer Squirters -- Anyone Modified The Terrible Design?

Y'all, One of the things that's irked me in the four months I've owned my '13 Tahoe is that the windshield washer squirters are positioned on the trailing side so that the entire upward stroke of the blades are dry, just what you don't want when trying to wipe the glass clean. What a terrible...
