Has your buddy tried to swap cylinders 1 And 2 coil packs with another cylinder and see if the misfire switches? Eliminate a bad coil pack and spark plug first
2007 GMC Yukon Denali 6.2
So I attempted to install a new oil pump but was interrupted half way and had to stop. I removed the water pump. I removed the power steering pump rack assembly (5 bolts) and pushed it off to the side. I used a factory gm puller and tried with that along with O'Reillys...
Does anyone know if th camshaft is a 2 bolt or a 3 bolt? apparently auto zone, napa and O'Reilly all have different answers lol. I was kind of hoping to have it in my hands before tearing it apart. O'Reilly says 540 dollars. Online is like 330 but want to dot my i's
Here is a question for everyone. I looked at the cam right before reassembly and I'm noticing some marks. Wondering if I should replace this cam? Should I consider like a stage 2/3 kit?
Well I took my time and redid the valley pan cover, gaskets and cleaned everything. Oil pressure is reaching higher now into the 40-45psi range on startup but still drops considerably too low after warm so I will tackle the oil pump next week. I was hoping to get to it today but that won't...
I am also wondering if my oil leak will minimize as well. I just wish I knew why the previous owner went through the trouble of removing the intake and sealed the edges but didn't replace the gasket. I was told the valley pan didn't need sealer around it. I was contemplating using some extra...
So here we are. I decided to do the valley pan first. I'm glad I did. Every bolt on the valley pan was loose
Absolutely no socket wrench was needed. Every last screw was unscrewed with my fingers. I used a pry tool and patience to get the valley pan up. Every last square inch had black sealant...
So I will be replacing the oil pump this weekend but wanted to update something I found kind of interesting. I ordered a new pickup tube gasket at O'Reilly instead of Napa. It was a felpro and it's red. I will give a picture below. It seemed thicker so I bought it and brought it back to Napa...
I dropped the oil pan and redid the seal, scrubbed the pan and cleaned the pickup tube at the same time. Dropping the pan wasn't as hard as it seemed. Front dif drop wasn't fun but me and my son was able to fight it
Thanks for that picture. When I pull the oil pump I will take a similar picture and take my micrometer and do measurements. Because if napa gave me the wrong one makes me wonder how many others are fighting this
I'm wondering if I was given the wrong one. I will verify thickness this weekend. Might as well do the gaskets under the plenum and such as well. This is why I like LS Engines, for the most part aren't that bad to fix
So I have the common dreaded low oil pressure. I replaced the pickup tube ring and still have low oil pressure so I'm about to tackle the oil pump.
Does the pickup tube mount directly to the oil pump?
Asking because I would like to see and feel the fitment again of that O ring. I have seen...
Yea that was a nightmare fix! Original owner went to Valvoline and they overtightened the oil filter so bad I almost had to impact it off! I had to do 1/8" increments and most all that oil splatter is from the filter having a slice in it from being too tight. Hardest oil filter I have ever had...
