PWMac's 2008 Yukon XL Denali build

Hey Everyone,

I got my 2008 Yukon XL Denali in January 2017 with 86K miles. I've enjoyed reading about everyone's builds and appreciate the advice so I thought I would start one now that I'm starting to make some changes. Before I got it the wheels were swapped out and the drivers side door is from 2011 Silverado. I'm not sure what happened here because it had a clean carfax and the Silverado is still registered in FL but the paint looks good so I don't think there's an issue. Here's a picture the day I got it and the glove box codes. The only update I did before this week was swapping out the interior lights for LEDs.

After reading a lot of recommendations on this site I installed the Airaid jr kit today and replaced a lot of the split loom hoses that were disintegrating. I also ordered the Black Bear Performance Autocal and hope to log a drive this weekend.

Another project I started this week after seeing a post by mdnitedrftr was building a platform for my back with storage underneath. We have 3 dogs and I think this will work nice for trips. I made it in 2 sections so one can be in with the 3rd row and the both can be in with the 3rd row out. Still need to carpet 2nd section and secure. Plan on using toggle latch clamps to connect the 2 sections together and eye bolts and carabiners to secure to the floor, even though I'm not sure it needs it.

I have to admit I was little leary about the difference the Airaid MIT would make. After driving today I can definitely tell a difference in sound, especially when you get on it and it seems to have a little more power.

I'm with you! I bought a used one from a forum member the week before my Black Bear tune but wasn't very sure it would do much for performance. Well, the sound alone under heavy throttle is worth the cost of admission!

Finished up the rear platforms today. Didn't worry about securing to the floor because it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. The dogs seem to approve.

Headlight restore

One of my headlights was replaced before I purchased and the other was oxidized really bad. I thought about buying a new one for $75 but thought I would give restoring it a shot first.

I had some Chemical Guys V Line products and found this video so pretty much followed his steps.

I used 1000, 2400, and 3600 grit sand paper with the v32 and v36 compounds. It's not perfect but it's definitely better, only took 45 minutes and didn't cost much money. I'll have to see how long it lasts.

Nice looking truck! Interesting idea for the rear cargo area! And nice choice on the chemical guys V line products for polishing. Those are my main go to products in my professional detailing arsenal! they rock!

Black Bear tune

Received my Black Bear tune files today and they were very easy to install with the autocal. First impression is that it shifts better now because it always felt like it was shifting too much. It also seems to have a little more acceleration when starting from a stop. I was only getting 10.8 mpg before the tune so I'm interested to see if this improves too.
