I own a 2015 Yukon Denali XL. Love the truck. I got a service parking assist message after starting it after coming out of a store. Got out and saw someone had backed into the front bumper cracking the black plastic and busting one of the circular sensors. Looked underneath and the wire was cut as well. Ordered a set of 4 from Amazon (apparently the front and rear sensors are the same). Worked on it today. Got the front bumper cover off switched out all 4 sensors and repaired the wire on the one sensor. While I had the bumper cover off, I added a louder horn sincevI could access the wires. Put it all together and went to start it. Nothing. First step back. Saw some message about turning the steering wheel (was pinned to the left) after trying a few times it finally released and was able the start the truck. Saw the parking assist light off and pushed it. Didn't turn on, just flashed. Second step back. Decided to take it for a ride to test but found it would not come out of park . Third step back. Ran a scan and it came back as all 4 sensors wrong. I assume this is not as easy as a calibration right? As far as not coming out of park, it's apparently locked out for some reason. Brake lights work. Battery new. Could it be because of the new horn? I'm defeated right now and will look at it tomorrow. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

Wow! That's a new one. I replaced one sensor, and it was simply plug and play.

Perhaps connected to the truck's OEM security system? You could disconnect the new horn and see if your issue resolves.

@Doubeleive may be able to add some perspective to your issue.

this has come up before and unless I am wrong I believe the BCM may need to be reprogrammed
I could be wrong though
did you disconnect the battery while working on it?
also only the 1 parking sensor needed replacing, doing all 4 was overkill
I don't think the parking sensors or horn are related to your current issue at all. you could unplug the parking sensor harness just to see if it makes any difference.

Not to date myself, but sometimes I feel points and condensors were better! It appears a few things happened and vI wanted to share in case others run into the same issues. First the Amazon sensors I bought were crap. Will get the ones you suggested. The truck initially not starting was because the steering wheel.was locked in a pinned position. By turning it hard and hitting the start/stop switch a number of times allowed it to release. Truck started. Then the issue of not being able to come out of park. I checked every single fuse, took apart the main fuse panel to ensure clean connections, cleared codes, and even disconnected the battery for 20 minutes and touching the 2 battery leads together. Nothing worked. So I started taking the dash apart to try andv ind the interlock and trace back from there. When I pulled out the rubber boot around the shift lever, I saw it was unable to come out of gear since the shifter couldn't come forward enough. Upon further investigation, I saw a small pin stopping the lever from coming further. So, I used a small screwdriver and pushed in the pin. I was then able to get it into gear! After driving I saw mu outside temp display at 32 (50 outside) shit, what now? Ultimately found it has to recalibrate if the battery is disconnected. It eventually reset. Next panic was when I got the error that the adaptive cruise control was not available. I'm now thinking I really screwed something up. But simply, it's not available when stopped and you try to engage. Duh. Attached are a picture of Janie and the PPV brake upgrade I did.

As a matter of forum housekeeping and cleanliness, there's no need to quote yourself multiple times, or even once. Your prior posts are in the thread for everyone to read. Makes it easier for us to read without the extra stuff.

First off, 64 means you're still a pup, lol.

I'm with you thought. I was born and raised an analog guy, and most of today's whiz-bang electronics offer little reason to change now.

I'll take a sweeping needle over an LED any day.

You know, Boss, on this topic--

It took me some experimental trial-and-error to figure out the extra work needed to change my mind about quoting someone.

Using this post as an example, I'd have to erase every word, every letter, of my response AND OF your quoted post.

Otherwise, it won't go away.

Agreed, it takes some work to do after the message has posted. A solution is to figure it out while still creating a new post (not "editing" a prior post).

But you may not be able to fully delete a post; if that's needed, just write "Please remove" or "delete" and save that, and let a mod know you'd like it to be deleted.

If you have the little disc icon at the top right-hand corner of your post, you can first clear your post text, then click that dropdown and select "Delete draft." But I'm not certain that will actually delete a post that was already posted. YMMV
