Would you buy your Yukon/Tahoe again?

Yes, I would purchase my Tahoe again and again. My 2001 Tahoe is still our trip vehicle for vacations with 130,000 miles on the clock. I love that it does 80 effortlessly and is comfortable for long Interstate trips. I also use it to tow my classic 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo to car shows, I...

    Oil change algorithm......

I change my oil and filter on my 2001 Tahoe every 3000 miles. Since I only cover about 6000 miles a year that is 2 oil changes a year. To me it is well worth the $50-$60 I spend to keep the oil and filter as clean as possible and I do it myself.

    Nitrogen?

From my experience, if you have a heavy SUV that sits a long time in a garage or outside and not being used often then the nitrogen will not lower the pressure in the tire as quickly as air does. I used nitrogen for years on my 2001 Tahoe that is our trip vehicle and the tire pressure did not...

    --- Photos: SPOTTER'S THREAD (post up all years/models) ---

Here is a picture of my 2001 Tahoe that is the tow vehicle for my 1970 Monte Carlo that I have owned for 50 years. I have owned the Tahoe for 23 years and it has been a faithful servant all of this time. The Monte Carlo was purchased on May 5, 1974 and has a 350 V8 with a 4 barrel carb that...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I drove my 2001 Tahoe 750 miles this weekend from Virginia Beach, VA to Williamsburg, VA then to Wilmington, NC to see and be with family and friends for a long weekend. My speed was between 70 & 80 mph and still returned 16.8 mpg overall with 4 adults and their suitcases on board. Not a single...

Stick with OEM Starter as Replacement?

I have the same situation. My 2001 Tahoe starts fine and runs great, it has 127000 miles. We are planning on taking a weeks vacation to the mountains of NC then visiting relatives in Wilmington on the coast. Should I replace the starter now or take the chance? Does any one else have a 2001...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yesterday, August 24th I drove my 2001 Tahoe to Hampton, VA to the Special AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Car Show to see if I can find out more information about the club to bring my 1970 Monte Carlo to one of their shows. I have owned this MC for 50 years, I was 18 when I bought in...

radiator leaking, what replacement is everyone using

While you have the radiator out check the water pump too. I needed a water pump in February and decided to replace anything associated with the water pump because my Tahoe is a 2001 and it is our trip vehicle. I even replaced the heater connector Ts along with belts, tensioners and the radiator.

what useful items do you carry in your SUV?

Since my Tahoe is a 2001 and 23 years old I carry quite a few items to use in case I have a problem and to keep my Tahoe clean. Fire extinguisher Battery jumper box Extra belts Extra radiator hoses stored underneath the car inside the spare tire wheel Flashlights Prestone antifreeze Extra quart...

Help!!! Broken heater hose on firewall

1 I tried the removal tool and no luck, I guess I am not strong enough to make them work. I took your advice and used my Dremel with cutting wheel to cut of the Ts on my 2001 Tahoe. The hard part is one has to climb into the engine compartment to be able to cut the Ts. One cut and a strong...

    Coolant leak and smell inside

I had a water pump leak too in my 2001 Tahoe with 125000 miles. I decided due to the age of my Tahoe to replace anything associated with the water pump at this time so I did not have to do piecemeal jobs. I replaced the following: water pump, radiator, thermostat, serpentine belt tensioner...

Which window deflectors are you using? Pros/Cons?

I have a set of Weathertech in channel window deflectors on my 2001 Tahoe since new when I purchased it in July of 2001. They are in great shape and the only thing I have ever done was add new double faced tape to the driver’s door one because it used so much more than the other windows and it...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I drove from Virginia Beach, VA to Ashland, VA to meet my daughter for her birthday lunch. Round trip around 230 miles, lots of traffic and a good pace between 70 & 75. My 2001 Tahoe performed as well as ever with a new radiator, thermostat, hoses, belts, tensioners and water pump. I am the...

    Transfer case oil change question

I change my oil on my 2001 Tahoe every 3000 miles or less depending if we are going on vacation or staying home. It costs me $50 for oil and K&N filter at the auto parts stores sales. I am not concerned with the money I just do it myself because I know it is done right and saves me time.
