Knee deep in first transmission rebuild, opinions welcomed.

Watch this video - I wonder if you have the same issue I did when filming...I couldn't get the snap ring on, either until I figured out the hold-up.

    2022 Yukon Trans Issue

Valve bodies themselves dont cause limp mode; that is triggered by an electrical/electronic/communication error between trans electrical components and the ECM.

    shifting issues in 04 Tahoe

Could be TPS, they go bad and sometimes wont trigger any DTCs. That said, having to let off the throttle to make it shift typically indicates a mechanical problem somewhere in the apply circuit or worn applied elements. Yours sounds like it could be a pressure loss due to a minor leak/x leak...

2016 Tahoe LTZ Transmission issue (P0741 Code)

You're welcome. Id def do a full DOD/AFM delete with a non AFM cam, etc. that DOD crap is responsible for an awful lot of engine failures...

2016 Tahoe LTZ Transmission issue (P0741 Code)

No thoughts beyond taking it back to the shop to have them fix it, if they caused the problem. If they didn't (or if them simply disabling the AFM resulted in lifter failure), it will need to be fixed one way or another (if it's your lifter and not an injector). I think some scan tools can...

Rocket Man's 02 Denali Build Thread AKA "THE BEAST"

If the solenoids, speed sensors or IMS (09+) develop a fault or the PCM and/or TCM "senses" a voltage anomaly in one or more of transmission internal electrical components, it will throw a code. It will also throw a code if the transmission fluid temp sensor ceased working properly (pressure...

Rocket Man's 02 Denali Build Thread AKA "THE BEAST"

Your scan tool isnt going to tell you what parts physically broke in your powertrain or drive train. It will only tell you if data being received from one or more nodes in your vehicle's network is reporting anomolous data (or no data when it should be). You have to get hands on when it comes...

    2018 GMC Yukon - 89k

We transmission builders who work on the 6L80/90 hear stories like this all the time... Automatic transmissions, in general, can suddenly fail. Also, there's no such thing as a "full inspection" when it comes to the transmission short of yanking it out, tossing it on the bench and tearing it...

I think that's a good move. I really dont like those super-thin frictions and steels. The 7-clutch 4L65E spec pack using Alto Reds or High Energy clutches are good to go for most applications. Unless you're pushing real hogh horsepower and not using the high rate return springs, I'd just install...

2016 Tahoe LTZ Transmission issue (P0741 Code)

Ask them for specifics around 'rebuilding the TEHCM' as they ARE NOT REBUILDABLE! The pressure switch seals, diaphragms and TEHCM filter screen are all replaced during a service but the individual variable force solenoids are not individually replaceable. I'd want to know exactly what they mean...

2016 Tahoe LTZ Transmission issue (P0741 Code)

P0741 is usually converter failure and converter failure usually equates to transmission failure, unfortunately. Reasonable (and correct, sustainable) fix is to properly overhaul the unit and install an upgraded converter with a better clutch. Also flip the pill inside your thermal bypass...
