Hope your doing good @Rocket Man Just wanted to say, like other awesome build threads on this forum, im over here reading thru yours from start to finish. Currently on page 233. Inspiration to keep working on mine. Love what I've seen so far :driver:
I’m doing good, thank you @HansJr . Glad you’re finding inspiration from my build. Keep up the good work! :p

1 month later and all caught up :driver: Meticulous is an understatement. Seems you and @Fosscore share some characteristics in perfection  hope the most recent trans issue is something small and you can get back to driving The Beast soon!
Thank you. I did run a check with my Tech2 the other day and no transmission issues showed up on it. I’m not 100% sure if that means anything since the ECU/TCU is one unit on this model year and there isn’t much the Tech2 can do but in the past when I was having issues width the 3-2 downshift solenoid it did show up as an issue using it. So I’m hopeful. It doesn’t make any bad sounds when I start the engine and try to move it through its gears, it just doesn’t want to move the truck. I plan on getting it up on jack stands during the next period of nice weather and starting to diagnose. I guess it’s possible it was the rear or even front diff or transfer case that’s locked up. I’m all done with chemo and have had no side effects but chemo/radiation is next, that will be the entire month of April 5 days a week but its only one hour appointments so it should leave me time to work on it. Hoping for the best for both me and The Beast.

Hey @NickTransmissions I was wondering if you could shed some light on my issue. Something broke in my drivetrain and I haven’t been able to get under it and we what the issue is due to health and weather. I’m trying to see if my Performabuilt Level 3 4l60e is the culprit by hooking up my Tech2 to see if there’s any codes and to try to diagnose a failure in the trans. My question is- if I blew the transmission would the Tech2 tell me ? Wouldn’t there be at least a code or two? All I know is when I floored it and it downshifted from 3-2 I felt something break and I was only able to make it a few blocks before the truck eventually wouldn’t move. I had to get off the expressway so I pulled into the nearest parking lot and seemed like I had to manually downshift it to keep moving and it soon killed the engine. After sitting for awhile waiting for the tow truck, I could put it into gear but it won’t move. The engine doesn’t die though. Now it’s been home for a couple months. The transmission didn’t overheat when this happened. Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated. The Tech2 doesn’t show anything wrong with the transmission, at least not that I can see.

Your scan tool isnt going to tell you what parts physically broke in your powertrain or drive train. It will only tell you if data being received from one or more nodes in your vehicle's network is reporting anomolous data (or no data when it should be).

You have to get hands on when it comes to stuff breaking to find out what broke.

I understand it wont tell me what parts broke, but IF parts are broke in the transmission wouldn’t it throw codes or at least say something in the trans isn’t working? Wouldn’t it say SOMETHING regarding it? BTW the transfer case is non electronic so the only nodes as far as the drivetrain goes is what is available through the TCM. I’m just trying to get an idea of if I’m looking at shipping this all the way across the county to Performabuilt or if I might get lucky and it’s more likely the rear or front diff or transfer case. I have to work on it in the driveway and it’s still acting like winter here. And in a couple weeks I’m starting chemo/radiation so I’m not sure when I can get to it.

If the solenoids, speed sensors or IMS (09+) develop a fault or the PCM and/or TCM "senses" a voltage anomaly in one or more of transmission internal electrical components, it will throw a code. It will also throw a code if the transmission fluid temp sensor ceased working properly (pressure switch manifold assy for 93-08; harness for 09+).

You may also see a gear ratio error code if applied elements cease to work properly as well but it's not common to see in the longitudional 4 speed transmissions.

But hard part failure (shaft breakage, sun shell, sprag, gear train, pump failure) usually wont throw a code since the PCM has no way to monitor or isnt programmed to "see" it, especially the non-TSS 4L60Es...
