Sad Day - Moving on to a Truck
Our plan was to move to a Denali Yukon XL diesel a while ago. Already owned the Sierra Denali w/ LM2 so we knew it was a winner and had to get the 3.0. Its is a hens tooth ! HPFP
There are a few guys on youtube who have had this exact issue. Car wizard was one of them. The HPFP leak into crankcase and cause codes and other issues. It is a maintenance item on these LT motors. Lug Nut replacement...
The lug nuts in northern states get a mix of salt and water that can ********* under the stainless steel cover. Then it swells and thats where the issue comes in. Socket wont fit. 2017 Tahoe Low Milage Maintenance Recommendations
You perfectly on schedule for what you mentioned. Make sure trans if fluid and filter. Do all differentials along with transfer case. Brake fluid flush and you done for a long while. Clean throttle body and MAF sensor. 5k oil changes synthetic and she will go the distance. Good luck- Seamus

Do yourself a big upgrade and get the 2018-2020. I have had them all. Hated the 6 speed, really liked the 8 speed, I had not one issue on 2 trucks, BUT the 10 speed is the bomb. I have it on the wifes escalade and my 21 Denali. Awesome trans in comparison to earlier ones.- Seamus

Oil smells like gas
Bad fuel injector. Needs to be diagnosed. Washing down the cylinder walls and into the oil. I would not be driving till diagnosed and fixed. Good thing you caught this as it can get much more expensive. Another reason to change your own oil.- Seamus

Thoughts on purchasing a higher-mileage Duramax?
We have a diesel Guru tech at our GMC. Great guy, has said most all you mentioned. The oil consumption is a baffle in the valve cover. They replace the valve cover. Only effects 20-21's within a certain vin code. Coolant valve is a complex piece which was bound to be a problem...and it is. Still...- Seamus
