most likely cluster needs a rebuild, it's one of the symptoms. local guy fixes them here he went thru one I had like that and cleaned up the board, fixed some burnt lights. problem went away. Thought at first it might be the buttons but replaced all of them and same issue.
Had to do it. Works great now

Had same issue start after oil change reset. Did nothing after a week or so I parked in them sun and it stopped scrolling but was in spanish. Managed to switch language with the Information and Select buttons. Must be a connection problem somewhere the heat most of expanded a joint and connection came back. Hopefully for good.
Read a lot of snake oil methods to fix but to scared to try them.

We shall see what happens next. Hopefully GM does a recall or a class action happens soon

At this late juncture? Not a chance for a 2000-2006.
Seems to be happening on many models and later years. Obviously a design or workmanship issue. I just bought the car last year. I have heard of many airbag sensor issues also on many vehicles.

That's a fairly general statement. Any man-made product has the potential to fail or wear out due to component or pattern failure, or lack of maintenance, etc. Not necessarily a design or workmanship issue. The NBS trucks and SUVs have been some of the most reliable and by now the pattern failures are obvious and to be expected. Mine is old enough to drink, and I expect a certain amount of preventive and corrective maintenance as the years go by. What's a reasonable expectation for trouble-free operation for a vehicle that's changed hands a few times and has seen miles and miles of rough roads and possible lack of maintenance?

We expect normal wear and tear. Obviously regular oil and lube. Just becomes annoying when sensors fail before the things that they are meant to protect do.
Anyways such as life we will not loose sleep over it.
