New to diesel - help needed

I always use OEM, change it every 15k. The number 1 reason why diesels are towed into dealerships, clogged fuel filter.

    Auto start/stop eliminator added

I have them on all of our vehicles, and all of the fleet vehicles. If you drive around town and you sit at stop lights constantly, you will find in a few days your battery is dead. Adding this eliminated that issue, and I don't have to futz with pressing a button every time I start it.

Which Anti-Gel Additive for Cold Weather?

I have always used what’s on sale, never had one gel up yet. The trick is making sure you add it before you need it, and the fuel it’s mixed with has had a chance to work its way through the fuel filter. If does gel up, put some diesel911 I. It, wait a few hours, it should start.

    Diesel Additive Testing

The only additive I have used in over 40 years of owning diesels is anti-gel when the temp drops, and I use the cheapest on the shelf. Never had fuel gel, and since I used to keep trucks until my kids needed one, then drive them around 300k and sell them. Since they all have gone at 300k without...

    Infotainment Issue after Recall Update

Local dealer did the recall updates to the wife’s 23 Yukon. I noticed a few intermittent issues. The XMRadio will display the channel, there isn’t any audio, has “Internet Signal Lost”, “Attempting to reconnect”. It has done this twice, unobstructed view of the sky. The other issue...

Yukon Denali - Driver's side running board light not working

The passenger side on mine the LED strip went bad. The dealer ordered a new LED strip, replaced it under warranty.

    Dealership Diagnostic Time

I would find another dealer. The 2 dealers I use, both scan for codes when the Service Advisor checks the vehicle in, and all of the TSB updates were done same day. The only exception to same day is if they find an issue and have to order parts, or open a TAC. I sent my 1500 in, it needed a new...

    Engine replacement

Dealer told me this is an issue, GM is trying to figure out which supplier(s) are involved, which explains why it isn't every 6.2. There are 17 6.2's in our fleet, and so far only 2 of them, one was a 21, the other was a 23. All of them have over 50k on them now, the 2 had the issue had less...

2021 diesel Tahoe engine turn off when driving

If the above are eliminated, did this start after a filter change? If so, check the filter housing and cap. I had an LB7 that used to do that, only on the highway, turned out there was a hairline crack in the fuel filter mount.

Took my 2024 Sierra Denali in Friday, they did the recall, and it had a DEF issue, DEF always showed full. Dealer ordered a DEF sensor, but Saturday I jumped on the freeway, Super Cruise doesn’t work at all, not even the steering wheel icon on the dash, if I try to engage Super Cruise, dash...

NHTSA opens preliminary probe into more than 870,000 GM vehicles

it’s a preliminary investigation, they will ask GM exactly how many engines were produced, how many at each facility (I think there are 4), who were the parts manufacturers\suppliers, maintenance records, and how many have failed out of the 870,000. For those looking at other manufacturers...

    DEF range low

There is an update if you have the issue. My wife's Yukon has always worked like it should, my Sierra, out of the blue it stopped working and showed it was full all the time, software update fixed it. I am not sure why some have the issue, and others don't. Just my opinion, but GM should just...

Engine Issue 2023 Yukon Denali 6.2L only 4k miles

I also run a fleet of vehicles, Ram, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Mercedes, and GMC trucks, vans, and SUV's. If you think this is isolated to GM, you will soon find out it isn't the vehicle brand, it's the parts suppliers. We were all GM, until the COVID shortage, it was a buy what we could find, there...

    Lockup recall - N242454440

They are not replacing the TCV. The recall is updating the software to detect the TCV is going to fail. Once it fails, if it's under warranty, GM will replace it under warranty, if you are out of warranty, get your wallet out.

    Unexpected Shut Off

When it stops running, does the electrical die as well, or is it just the engine? This is reminiscent of an issues the LB7, LLY, LBZ. LMM, and LML's used to have when the housing the filter mounted to would get a hairline crack and air would get in, causing a loss of prime. My BIL had a LLY, we...
