+1 replace both belts and tensioners while you are in there.

from personal experience, if the belt snaps and the the tensioner pulley breaks. your ac compressor is on borrowed time.
so if the belt breaks again in a weeks time. just replace the compressor. or you will be buying another belt, then another belt and so on and so on lol fml type of deal. i went 3 belts deep and a tensioner lol

My OE z71 running boards were starting to oxidize and peel paint in certain spots, not to mention the amount of rock chips on the front.
Pulled them off and ground down the corrosion with a fine 3” blue fiber wheel on my 12v mini polisher.
I’m going for looks good 10ft away, not a show truck. I cleaned them meticulously with degrease and acetone, then primed them with self etching primer. Tried some satin black but wasn’t a fan of seen all the imperfections… plus it just didn’t lay down right.
Remembered I had a few cans of bed liner spray in the cabinet. Tried that and was pleased with the appearance.

While I was doing my running boards, my passenger side Z71 cladding has always hung low. Took it off to find the cladding bracket missing some of the 1/4 rivets. Also found most of the 1/4” rivets holding the top of the running board mounts to the rockers gone.
Spent the after noon re-riveting everything. Man these running boards are solid as all get out now. Super pleased.
Also super happy with how the truck is holding up. 20 years and a NY truck, rockers are mint. I will continue my liberal oil undercoating and washing routine.

Looks great, Sam! I can't decide whether to paint my appliques black like yours or color match them. Been putting it off.

Huge fan of rattle-can bed liner for hiding imperfections. Used on my Z71 running boards as you did as well as the rear appliqué’s… also did the rear bumper and the used a top coat / clear coat over it to match the body color…

I took my 1999 Silverado for state inspection. The lady told me first year of inspection with no emissions check due to it being considered a "classic" 25 year old here. So just safety inspection and only $8 (vs. $30)
