So I’m having problems getting the right fitting for the nut that holds the cover to the air condition filter. In the 2011 Tahoe there is no air conditioning filter and cover. But it can be cut out to fit the filter cover with screw and a filter can fit into the unit. Chevy simply covered the filter hole with plastic that can be cut out. I’m having trouble finding the right connection to unscrew the single bolt that holds the covered plastic. Once the “plastic” is removed the potential opening to the filter is revealed. Anyone done this before? I have a socket set but it’s just not the right seize. The right tool and seize connection would be great it’s in an awkward position on the passengers side front just above the feet.

Thank you.

So a few yeas ago I installed this kit from GM for my 2010 Escalade EXT it was the door, screw for filter door and the filter. I still get the filters from Amazon AC Delco part # CF193C you might be able to get the GM parts kit. The filters are a hassle to install because you have to wedge them into the slot but it seems to make a difference in dusty conditions. You do have to loosen 2 or 3 screws 7mm above the passengers footwell and drop the rubber insulated cover to get to it

There are 3 bolts and they are 7mm you really only need to remove 2, dorman makes a kit that is the filter slot cover and a filter or just the cover piece.
Thank you I was wondering what size to use with my socket wrench.

I purchased AC Delco filter and filter cover. Even purchased a knife with blade to cut through the plastic. In theory this all should work.

Thank you

You might have to squish a normal filter to get it in there the dorman one is trifold for future reference and goes in much smoother

I think used a Razor knife and a oscillating tool if I remember correctly to cut out the opening and like I said the filter makes a 90 degree turn as your shoving it into place. Poor design but better than nothing

Do blieve and Mp5. I did it. I cut the section with a cutting knife and a demel tool with bit. It took awhile with frustration to go with it but I put in the filter and had the kit to close it with the 7mm nut.
