At 195,000 miles I've been doing several of these projects. A couple of weeks ago did engine and transmission mounts. Next week having transfer case rebuilt and back of engine seals replaced to fix oil leaks.
If they're going to be pulling the transmission to get to the back of the engine, it's an excellent time to replace the torque converter if it's original or has over 100K on it. It's the weak link of the whole driveline in my opinion, and when it fails it spreads debris through the whole system, taking out the transmission, coolers, everything. They make drop-in OEM replacements with a stronger lockup clutch and billet cover. The shop doing the work can recommend a replacement, but several of us have had good luck with the CVC BU60FHD.

Also worth replacing while they're in there (I'm assuming they're replacing the rear main seal and cover seal), is the oil galley plug (aka barbell). They can be a source of oil pressure loss as the seals on them age.

Yeah @Campbesl , get that new torque converter, it's a direct swap, and mega-insurance for your transmission.

I just threw one in my 6L80 (179,*** miles), and could feel the improved shifting immediately.

Actually, I had my tranny fail last fall. Not sure what torque converter went in with the reman but is shifting very well.. Eve though it's not a year old, should I consider replacing the converter with a BU60FHD ?

I have a new barbell in the truck for the work next week. I got the idea from posts here on TYF.

BTW, today was an 11.5 hour marathon but got everything done. I'm beat!

If the TC was replaced (likely), then you’re good.
