2000 GMC Yukon Denali. Love my truck but, I have a problem with my key FOB. I think I'm still using original key fob. It has no range. Must be right next to driver door window before it unlocks. Maybe 2 foot range. I have cleaned all internal contacts, replaced batteries, done everything I can think of to add range. Does anyone have any suggestions. Get newer fob? Can I add antenna? Where is receiver in truck? Anyone have better range with aftermarket fob? I am interested in any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Some say holding it under your chin with your mouth open works but I’m not sure I’d want to do that. Most likely the fob needs replacing. No big deal they’re everywhere.

I have a 2002 Z71, original owner, and have gone through several key fobs in its lifetime. These are readily available, and can be self-programmed at home using a special sequence of key on, key off, along with manual door lock/unlock. I have a range of at least 30'+, and my oldest (working) replacement fob is 5 years old. All key fobs must be programmed at the same time (in sequence), which is great in case you have an existing fob that is lost or stolen. This one comes in black, blue, or red.

Does "everything I can think of" include reprogramming the old one?

I don't know if it'll work, but it's free.

Thanks for your responses. I did reprogram about a year ago. I'll try again and let you know. For background, I bought this truck 7 years ago with only 100k miles on odometer. Only has 140k now. Daily driver, but less than 15-20 miles per day. After these responses I did go on amazon and purchased new fob for less than $10. Haven't got it yet, but will let you know. For 10 bucks I'll try anything. I have never gotten more than 5-6 feet of distance on this current fob. Does anyone know what distance you should expect on this type of oem fob? Maybe their efficiency falls off over age. Thanks again.

oem fob should go 30-40ft
there are tons of options out there, my Viper goes up to 1 mile. with added smart start it can be done worldwide.

I'm also wondering if it works any better when you're not at the house.

I've been reading, for years, about the congestion with-in the designated consumer radio frequencies. So, I wonder if there's some nearby source of interference, at the house.

in the Freq spectrum that the fob use's probably not unless you are running some high power illegal ham or cb equipment
most oem fobs are in the mid 300-450mhz uhf/fm short range, similar to tpms freq
compared to my Viper which is in the 1.6~1.7ghz range
