There are no labels on the physical toggles or buttons. The labels are only on the screen. If the screen dies, there's no redundancy. If those are dedicated toggles for HVAC and their functions don't change based on what's on the screen, then why not just label the buttons and save that space on the screen?

Pricing on the Fords in 2024 were okay especially if you used Granger Ford's quotes as a baseline to negotiate with local dealers. But I was also tracking the time between order and delivery for both the F150s and Expeditions in 2024. The lag time was just too long and unpredictable a the time. I wasn't going to order a 2024 model in October of 2023 only for it to be delivered in September 2024 right before a refresh or introduction of a new model year. It's definitely trending towards a 2-3 month timeframe from order to delivery. On Ford's weekly production updates, there are a lot less constraints as far as limited/exhausted availability now.

We usually have enough spare vehicles between us that in an event one or two went down, we would each still have another vehicle to use in the meantime. That's why we weren't desperate to purchase a vehicle right after the pandemic when it was more of a seller's market than a buyer's market. We're comfortable with waiting until we're in a more advantageous position as far as pricing goes. It's more about the principle than the few thousand dollars. All of our vehicles are custom order anyways and so we're accustomed to waiting 2-4 months for delivery.

The same applies to large purchases such as homes. Being able to de-couple the sale of your current home from the purchase of your next/second home is important in being able to maximize your advantage. For example, buying your next home in the fall when demand is the lowest and selling your home in the spring/summer when demand is the highest. But it requires you to have enough liquid net worth to be able to do so. I view car purchases somewhat similarly - I am reluctant to just throw away a few thousand dollars if I don't have to.

The argument you make, makes no sense. People who complain about touchscreen want physical buttons not to press the screen or find items hidden behind menus. Here you have buttons and illustrations that are not hidden and are physical.

Like I said I've noticed you post a lot. Tons of opinions no action. Perspective owners and current owners are the audience for vehicle manufactures. Critics who just critique not so much.

It has a differentiating interior from the cheaper chevy version. Thats not good enough for you.

Preferring buttons doesn't mean someone is tech adverse. Oftentimes its people in tech that see the benefit and functionality of manual controls - and have a better understanding of what needs to be analog. I have multiple monitors at work and mostly everyone has a large screen in their living room and/or family room. I don't need another enormous screen in my car. Why don't we just replace windows with screens instead while we're at it.

The point you keep missing is something isn't premium if it's less functional. GM isn't the only brand to make this mistake. Ford has made this mistake with the Expedition/Navigator.

The phone comparison is quite amusing. A phone is a $500-$1000 item, right? I keep a backup burner phone at home in case my primary phone dies. I also have a work phone. But I hate typing on a phone screen compared to a laptop or tablet with a folding/portable keyboard. And it's why I prefer messaging apps (Signal, WhatsApp, etc.) that have a desktop/tablet version to utilize a keyboard with ... wait for it ... actual physical buttons on a keyboard.

Maybe we should all have a backup GMC Yukon in case our theater size screen fails. You're keeping your pre 2025 Yukon and just adding the 2025+ Yukon to your fleet right?

Often in life, you're just picking the least worst option out of a set of bad options.

money obtained from an event or activity.
"proceeds will help purchase new equipment"

It's paid off. I got it for below msrp. As it stands currently it's worth what I paid for it. Trading it will give me the tax incentive as well pushing it over. Plus for us we write it up as a business expense. The last 4 cars we have bought and traded have given us positive equity due to the covid craziness and us buying right. Otherwise I'd never be a proponent of trading in. And the diesels are holding value better than their gas counterparts so that also helps.

Yeah I get that you like the Chevy interior better. I think the exterior refresh on the tahoe and suburban are solid. I just don't like how that interior is shared with even the cheap Chevy crossovers. I also don't like how tahoes are fleet vehicles so cops and the like have them. I enjoy the slight exclusivity of the yukon/xl. I like that it's not as common. And I like how there are physical buttons for what i need/want and redundant on screen controls in the yukon.

I'm also happy to see a lot more standard features as a lot of those are necessities for me to consider the purchase.

My opinion... is that they should have just adopted the new Chevy dashboard for the Elevation and AT4 trim levels. They can utilize the Yukon specific dashboard on the AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims.

I don't mind if the vehicle is used for severe duty fleets. I think that's how some design flaws get flushed out and corrected (ie. 1 vs 2 bolt rear diffs for the Explorers).

As far as screen going out, probably rare but it does happen. About 2 years ago a buddy of mine got a brand new Ford Expedition Platinum model and it was friggen awesome! Except for the huge center screen in my opinion. Kinda ugly and looks like they just stuck a big iPad on the dashboard. That truck was so nice, roomy and drove great. That’s what inspired me to sell my 2014 Chevy Express van and get one of the big SUV’s. Expedition was on top of the list but the screen and the fact it wasn’t V8 was a huge negative for me.

Anyway, about 2 weeks of ownership and my buddy shows up in a rental. I asked him what was up and he told me that his new Expedition was in the shop. Screen went out and with that model he couldn’t control anything, no AC and we are in Florida!

They eventually fixed it but couple days without the truck because the screen went out.
