I will say, my Tahoe has power boards while my wife’s Yukon does not. We have 4 kids and they all find the power boards easier to get in and out with. I think the fixed boards are too close to the car and thus are more awkward to actually use. Plus the power boards have better grip; my family is always slipping off the fixed boards. That all being said, I worry about longevity, but yes you can turn them off if not using often.
