2007 denali oil pressure questions. *video posted*

i have a 2007 denali with 97k miles. i recently changed the oil pan gasket because of a leak. i swapped the whole pick up tube with a new tube and o-ring. i also blocked off the oil relief valve.
now the issue. my friend (the mechanic) found 2 small pieces of metal which be believes are from the cam bearings. does my oil pressures reflect bad cam bearings?

my cold psi is great at 60 psi. my cruising psi seems to be around 35-40 psi depending on RPM. my hot idle after a decent trip is around 15 psi.

i just found out i can get an oil pressure gauge on my torque app. the video posted shows the idle psi as well as revving it in neutral. i will get another video if the pressure when im actually driving.

do you have any pics of the metal found?


15 isn't at bad as others. do you have afm delete stuff?

your oil pressure is fine

Unfortunately we didn't take any photos. 1 piece was pretty small to tell where it's from. The other be believes had copper on it. My Denali did not come with afm from factory.

ahh. you're fine.

I wouldn't sweat it. Those motors also have 8 o-rings under the valley cover that get hard and start allowing oil pressure to bleed off. Super easy fix. While you do that, put in a new GM oil pressure sender. Valley cover o-rings (or stand pipe/afm oil ports that aren't used on your engine) can cause quite a drop in PSI once the oil is hot and you have 8 areas of seepage.

Otherwise you pressure looks fine. I have a 2008 with a 6.2L, 193,500 on the clock - oil pressure is probably 50-60 cold, 30-40 cruising at freeway speed, and 20 idling hot. I did the oil pan, pickup tube, rear main seal, and valley cover o-rings since 140k miles. Yours is pretty close to that. Those items mentioned are just common areas of leaks to look at if you're concerned.

If you ever hear lifter/valve train clatter on a hot restart, you're overdue for valley cover seals - learned that one on my 2007 Denali.
