Not sure the 2 speed case is really that much more popular from what I've seen. That said, for me the most important thing to do to get traction in the snow was to turn the traction control off. Otherwise the T/C cuts in with any wheel slip and dramatically cuts the power. I would not do this on the highway, but slogging around town in deep snow it makes a huge difference. 4 hi does lock up the transfer case, so you really don't want to leave it there on dry pavement.

Denali and Escalade Hybrids got Z95 too if memory serves.

I’m impressed. I didn’t know GM upfit the Denali Hybrid with z95 MagRide from 09-13.

2010 sales brochure shows you had to have Denali trim to get MagRide / z95.



Darkhorse, who built the 08 2500 3/4 Ton Escalade ESV with the 6.6L Duramax stated the control modules for z95 & z55 are identical in the harnesses & connectors. He has z95 on the 2500 Esky.

I’ll betcha both Autoride & Magneride are interchangeable on the chassis as long as the struts match the corresponding module.IMG_2591.jpeg

Thought I’d throw this in here for a 4WD to AWD swap.


Note this is for the NBS / 00-06 Full size SUV that use a NP149 (different operating style) xfer case.

It is from what I've seen over the years or even looking at them online when there's a clear shot. Used there's never a price difference either, people mainly only care it's rwd or 4wd.
I mainly stay in rwd, if it's after a storm when 4wd is needed I usually use auto unless roads are consistently bad.

My 9.5" axles came from RWD Escalades, one from an ESV and the other a shorty.


yeah my 2011 yukon has the z95 shocks.

the older 08/09 hybrid caddy has a 3.42. I always wondered if it was the larger rear end or not. everything else got the 3.08

Thanks all. My concerns were not so much about having the 4 low - as most people mentioned its rarely needed. But I was concerned that the 4 Hi was a REAL 4 hi and not some kind of AWD set up...like in the Escalades and Denalis.


besides being able to switch to 2wd. what is the practical difference between the full time awd in caddy?
