I've started 3D modleing the release system for that pesky top lid latch.
(If you have a broken system? You know what I'm talking about!)
I found good pictures of the parts so plan to 3D Print them to fix my lid.
Think I may put "Bomb Release" On that button. :laughing1:

Today I remove that top lid so I can start the measuring for the parts needed.
I have none of the stock parts as the lid was screwed down and would not open.
The first part I make will be the slider latch. That way I can get the scale and find proper springs.
I'll also trace the shape of the visible outer contour and use that as a pattern in 3Ds Max to make the basic shape of the hold down system. And get measurements for that part.
Then I'll make the actual button part after that.
One thing I plan to do is make that hold down part WAY stronger! Just looking at the pictures tells me why they break.
I'll print in Petg for max UV resistance and temperature stability.

Started the base latch part that holds the lid down.
I had to adjust the scale in 3Ds Max to match my slicer program.
I figure I'm about 80% done with it after a few test prints.
Now to source the springs and finish that part before starting the other 2 parts.

I'll use some clay to do some measuring for the next parts.
Put the clay in the latch area and close the lid. That will give me the thickness I can work with.

Down the road a bit and I have most of the parts designed.
A few more days and I should have the working prototype done.

And NO. I will not release the STL files!

Prototype work is going great. Once everything is tested and working as it should?
I'll finish the detail and print at a finer setting.

I'd like to find someone that needs just the outter part and has all the internal parts.
I'd send a test print of that to them at no cost.
