your 2008 may or may-not have one
if it does then you remove the kick panel on the passenger side under the glove box and there will be single screw to take out and then remove the cover plate to get access to the filter.
if there is no filter cover and it is just solid plastic, you can buy a retrofit kit (dorman makes them) you would take a razor kniife or sharp tool and remove the plastic slot in order to insert a filter and the kit will have a new cover plate and screw

I don't know if the 2008 model year had a cabin filter. My 2007 Yukon XL Denali did not come with a cabin filter. There was, however, a spot where the cabin filter could be installed with a kit. The installation process was not difficult, and now with the kit, I have a functional cabin filter.

15-20 are where you said… behind the glove box
00-14 (and prob earlier) are under the kick panel under the pass dash (if they have them)

only on the 2015-2020 k2's, it is indeed right behind the glove box

Our 07-14 full size SUV never got cabin air filters. Same for the trucks until ‘13. See the link to the TSB below ..
They have to be installed. Once they’re in there, you’ll notice a lack of dust unless you keep the window down.
As another member mentioned use an exacto knife you can heat with a torch to plunge in and cuts like butter.
Keep reheating blade til you’re done. No burrs and safer than pulling those widow maker razors through rock hard PVC.
